WARNING — this is longer than usual! hehe.

It’s been a little bit over a month since the big move, and for once I’m starting to feel settled. We finally bought a coffee table, and most of the curtains we picked out have been been mounted to the walls. I know that doesn’t seem like very much, but when you start out with nothing, it actually does mean tons. I have “before” pictures, but I’m going to wait for the kitchen to be fixed before I post everything! I’ll give you one “before” picture to contemplate how the “after” will turn out.

Originally, some of the walls had wood paneling, which we ended pulling off the wall. And no, that is not the color of our walls anymore. For the fireplace, we’re still contemplating how to fix it up. Any ideas? (Note: Check out Maui in the corner roaming around!)

Maui’s ear is healing up fast, and it’s not that noticeable! I’m so glad we opted to not pay $500 for the stitching procedure. She’s been thoroughly enjoying the new house, especially the new floor rug we got, and dog park adventures have been keeping her active and healthy. This past weekend we decided to spend some time in the city (San Francisco), and she had tons of fun! Here are some recent fun pictures of her:

What a naughty potty!

We learned that she loves to play in them.

Pink Sketches is now on Sketch #6. Make sure you check it out! It’s one of my favorite sketches so far! The rest of the girls on the DT did a fabulous job with this one, so make sure to head over and join us for tons of fun. Here’s my take on it:

Title: Outdoor Fun

Description:I had fun working with this layout. It’s one of my playing in the jungle trees and shrubs of Hawaii! On this, I got creative and used a brown bag that was lying around. I kept trying to find paper to color coordinate with this layout, but I couldn’t find anything, so I ended up using the brown bag. I crumpled it up to create dimension and texture to the paper.

Materials: Paper: Basic Grey – Mellow, October Afternoon – Gazebo, Bazzill cardstock Other Scenic Route – chipboard, Bazzill – flowers and brads.

And the latest card I made for my special someone who finds dinosaurs interesting!

Until later,

Sarah.

I just wanted to say, “Gosh, we love Maui!”

Yesterday, Maui was getting groomed and her ear got caught on the razor. It totally snagged her ear and cut it. She started bleeding, and a part of her ear had about 1/2 inch gash. Surprisingly, she didn’t let out a yelp or shed a tear. Just to be safe, we called the vet, and they told us to head over to the pet hospital.

They gave us three option:

1) Get stitches

2) Get it caught off

3) Let it heal on its own

For stitches, the price would have been around $500! So, we just opted to let it heal on its own. Nothing serious. We were told applying an anti-bacterial cream on her ear would suffice. Maui had no complaints; we walked her down the aisle of Petsmart, and she picked out a new toy for being such a trooper.

After the hospital visit, she was bathed and headed over to play with her cousins, two Westies… and her latest friend, Preston. They played for hours while we, humans, ate dinner. She had such a long day yesterday that on the car ride home, she totally passed out (with snoring)!

Now for some scrapbooking news! Scrapbook New and Review loved three of my layouts, and they are going to be published in Issue #6, which is out Sept. 17th! Totally exciting, right? Also, I found this really awesome store in Fremont – Picture Me Perfect. It has a bunch of the latest products, and I’ll definitely have to go back and thoroughly shop! hehe.

Lastly, here’s my latest layout for Pink Sketches. We are already on Sketch #5.

Title: Dog Park Blues

Description: My puppy, Maui, usually gets to go to the dog park a few times during the week. These pictures were taken on a day she didn’t get to go and hang out with her other dog friends. Note the bummed out face.

Materials: Paper: SEI – Park Buddies, MOD – Daisy in Quotes, October Afternoon-  Gazebo Others: American Crafts – Thickers (Subway), Colorbok – Flowers, Bazzill – Brads

Have a fabulous week,

Sarah.

Here is my take on Challenge #1 for The Pretty Committee. If you want to play along, everyone is welcome to join us. Here is September’s challenge:

———-

Every woman has her own “pretty committee” … women she considers to be gorgeous inside and out. In honor of The Pretty Committee’s online debut, we wanted to celebrate our group’s name and find out who makes the cut to be on your own, personal pretty committee. Would you nominate your grandmother? Your best friend? Marilyn Monroe? Mother Theresa? All of the above? Show us your layout or art project and let us know!

You have until September 25th to e-mail your completed work to us OR to link your layout to this thread in order to qualify to win our fun, autumn-inspired prize pack that’s filled with goodies like rub-ons, stickers, ribbon, bling and more!!
———-
If I had to pick the most influential woman in my life and make her a part of my very own Pretty Committee, I would nominate my mother. She’s beautiful inside and out, so I wanted to scrap her. The journaling shows some examples of which she is an amazing person.
Title: She Moves Me
Materials: Paper: My Mind’s Eye – Bohemia; American Crafts – Metropolitan Valet; Sandylion – 3 Ring Circus; Scenic Route – Blue Grid Worn Other: Me & My Big Ideas – Chipboard; American Crafts – Thickers; Making Memories – 5th Avenue Journaling Notebook, Making Memories
Thanks for looking!
sarah.

I couldn’t resist. I had to share these photos of Maui. These were all taken on the way home from the dog park. They’re a little dark because we left at dusk, but they’re way too cute to not post. Check out her schnauzer beard; she’s totally “gone with the wind”.

Until next time,

Sarah.
