Just being here makes me not want to come home! I think I could totally make this my permanent home, hehe. Anyway, this will be a short post with pictures to share.
Day 4
While hiking, this is just some of the scenery we saw in I'ao Valley.
Playing in the lava rock tide pools!

Tons of sea life in the tide pools!

Snorkeling and playing around Ulua Beach!
Day 5
At a lookout on the Road to Hana.
The beautiful Hana Highway.
I got dirty in the mud to get that close to the waterfall.
One of the many black sand beaches to play at!
Maui also has red sand beaches!! Neat, huh?!
It's my first time at a red sanded beach.
I got so close to this one -- it was beautiful!
Okay, that’s it for now. I plan to sit out on the beach all day. I’ll let you know how that goes…
Oh, and of course, I have more layouts to share for different challenge blog sites. Stay tuned for that!
Hugs,
sarah.
This will be a quick post. I’m still here in Maui (it’s gorgeous)! We’ve only been here two full days, and we’ve done TONS. I know both family and friends want me to keep them posted as much as possible, so here goes. Here’s only a small handful of pictures on this adventure!
Shoyu chicken - a local favorite from a local eatery!
In the submarine that took us to see the underwater view of Maui! Yes, we saw a turtle.
After eating sushi, there was a hula show!
Kihei has amazing views - Here's a faint rainbow in the background.

A puffer fish followed me while I was snorkeling! ACK!
Maui is known for the whale migration! This fluke of a humpback whale was taken from the boat when we were five miles from the harbor. Thank gosh I didn't get too sea sick!
Oh, and of course… I had to post my layout for this week’s sketch over at Pink Sketches. If you’re in need of some inspiration, please do swing by for the latest sketch! Here’s mine for the week:
Hope everyone is doing well, and I hope to be back soon with tons of pictures and updates.
Hugs,
Sarah.
(I couldn’t keep my thoughts in. This is complete word vomit. You don’t have to read this post if you don’t want to.)
Oh, how I hate the hatred.
(n) hate, hatred: the emotion of intense dislike; a feeling of dislike so strong that it demands action.
I usually don’t pour my heart out to people. Honestly, I don’t even really pour my heart out to the closest people around me. I tend to keep my opinions to myself, but when I feel completely overwhelmed I can’t keep it in anymore.
…so anon emailed me for the second time. I was told to “ask God for forgiveness” because I was a “sinner”. Ummmm? I don’t understand this because I firmly believe that no one can deem right and wrong, except for God (or whatever higher entity one believes in). Reprimanding and pointing a finger at me, in my opinion, is an unwarranted judgment. I believe that negatively judging others is more of a sin than me going about my daily life. However, like I said it is not my place to say what a sin is or is not.
Main point to you and to anyone else who hates on others — Stop judging. Stop name calling. Stop the jealousy. Stop the ignorance. Stop the mocking. Stop the stealing. Stop the fighting. Stop the hate.
Although I’m not as religious as others, I wanted to share what Someone amazing left us with, ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
- Isn’t it true what religious people say… that God rests in all of our minds and hearts? If that is so, then it would be also true to say to love others… no matter what they look like or what they believe. To those who hate — think about that.
- “Your neighbor” refers to EVERYONE, sinner or non-sinner. Besides, last time I checked, Jesus hung out with the sinners.
I don’t mean to give a lecture on religious beliefs to everyone; I just wanted to express how I feel about this. I don’t mind these emails… actually it keeps me pretty entertained that someone who doesn’t like to read my blog keeps coming back to it. Must mean that I really am fun and inspirational to read, don’t you think?
Anyway, enough of that. I’m gonna promote LOVE by continuing to blog.
I’ve been staying at my parents’ house for the past couple of days. I haven’t really been productive while I’ve been here. I have just been hanging out and getting to do the things that make me feel relaxed. I wanted to share some random pictures I took.
We went to the nearby dog park. "Hi, I'm Maui. I'm from out of town."
"Why don't my friends want to play with the agility stuff?"
This bull dog totally cracked me up. It kept coming back to me for scratches.
Dog with pink jacket: "Wanna play chase with me?!" Yes, they did chase each other.
The score for the day -- Maui:5 Jack Russell:2
Oh, Chrissy! Don't be scared!
She's looking for some "num nums".
He thinks he's a model, so he poses for the camera.
"You can't deny how beautiful I am. Take more photos of me!"
…and the random drawing to the birthday RAK is:
Happy 25th Birthday! Sounds like lots of fun activities planned for it too! Love your layouts and the cute photos of your doggie!!
Congratulations! Please shoot me an email at redoaklines@gmail.com with your address, so I can get a package mailed out to you for playing along.
Also, Lydia, a good blog’n buddy, needs help. She would like me to spread the word. Find out how to help here, and make sure to tell her that I sent you, ok?
Be back soon,
Sarah.
This past week has come and gone so quickly. I guess that tends to happen when you’re having such a fun time. I surprisingly didn’t take that many pictures this past week; I guess it was because I was so excited and involved with everything going on around me.
On my birthday, I decided to start the day off by crossing off some of the “things to do before 26″ list. So, for lunch we ate at Pizza My Heart. I really liked their pesto pizza. Delicious!
Trying to chew and smile at the same time.
Hot and fresh - The Big Sur slice!
Later that night, I wanted to celebrate my birthday by eating at at one of my favorite restaurants in Davis, the city where I went to college (go Aggies, haha). Unfortunately, when we got there we saw a sign that said they were closed for relocation. Waaaah! I was so bummed because I was looking forward to feeling some college nostalgia. Oh wells!
For one of my birthday presents, Gloria took me to get a pedicure since I haven’t gone in such a long time (plus, it’s on my “things to do before 26″ list). Boy, that was long overdue!
Pedicurist working on Gloria's toes.
I soooo needed one of these!
We met up with Jennie after our pedicures to shop around the area. Since it was such a beautiful day, we decided to hit up the Stanford Shopping Center. I LOVE hanging out here because they have Sprinkles, and everyone knows how I feel about yummy cupcakes, haha! Plus, the Palo Alto Creamery has delicious ice cream, and Jennie wanted to treat me out to ice cream!
I had to pick up cupcakes this week!
We are both waiting for our yummy treats.
"Do I get to eat one too?!"
We're totally enjoying the warm weather.
Ice Cream Sundae. YUMM-O!
Because the ice cream was so filling, we had to take the goodies from Sprinkles home. Even after sitting out for a couple of hours, they still tasted amazing. Maui was the first one to devour the goodness (Sprinkles now sells doggie cupcakes).
Isn't this adorable?!
"It looks so good, Mommy! Now can I eat it?!"
Maui tried to eat these too! Good thing she didn't!
As for my creativity this week, I managed to crank out a few layouts even with the busy schedule.
Pink Sketches released another new and inspiring sketch. We are now on Sketch #25! The DT came out with such stunning layouts this week; these girls always seem to amze me! Make sure to check out their work! I decided to make a layout about my addiction to scrapping.
I had a little free time this week, I worked on the current Dreamgirls challenge:
Closeup of some of the details... gotta love that bling!
That’s all the pictures I have for now. I have more pictures to share, so stay tuned! Oh, and also check back for the winner to the birthday RAK in the next couple of days!
A BIG thank you to everyone who brightened my day on my birthday! I appreciate all of the love.
Hugs,
Sarah.
((I’m posting this slightly early on March 17th because I’m getting sleepy. Just pretend like it’s really the 18th, haha!))
Guess what?! I turn 25 today – March 18th. No, this is not my nifty birthday cake (Wouldn’t be cool if it was?!). I found the picture online, and it is quite suiting for my 25th birthday don’t you think? Besides, I love the bright colors on it; it looks like it could be on a piece of Cosmo Cricket paper, haha!

Anyway, I usually don’t pay too much attention to my birthday. This year, however, I feel really excited to turn 25. It might be because I am now a quarter of a century old! Or perhaps, it’s because I feel like 25 is going to be a special year. Either way, I’m just happy that it’s my birthday.
As for birthday plans — I plan on going out to dinner with friends and family tonight, so that should be pretty fun. Maybe go bowling afterwards? Then, this Friday, another scrapbook expo is coming my way. I’m excited for that because I’ll be surrounded with scrapping goodies (at a very LOW price)! I couldn’t ask for a cooler celebration for my birthday! Wahoo! Then, I’m headed back to my parents’ house this weekend to have another birthday celebration. I guess this year I’m being spoiled, haha.
Oh — and I forgot to wish everyone a happy St. Patrick’s Day! I have no drop of Irish blood in me, but it’s always fun to pretend, right? hehe. Maui decided to make sure she was dressed properly yesterday; she didn’t want to get pinched (or nipped by another dog at the dog park).
"Green time! I didn't want to get pinched!"
Maui's cute "beach bum" shorts!
"Aren't I cute wearing the color green?!"
"I feel bored -- let's go to the dog park!"
Anyway, because it’s a SPECIAL day today, let’s celebrate! How about a RAK?! To play, just leave a comment to this post telling me about the most memorable birthday gift you have ever received. Last day to enter is March 21st, 11:59 pm. …and remember, please share the word. I’d love to hear what other people have to share.
…and some recent layouts to share:
I played with Scrapping Out Loud again this week; their challenges always get the creativity going. I managed to work with all three challenges in one layout: 1) used the song “That’s What Friends Are For” 2) word of the week – “embrace” 3) sketch of the week.
My next layout was inspired by Sketches! {by tamara}. I decided to use last year’s Halloween pictures because I want to make sure I keep up with the growing stack I still have to scrap. I followed Sketch #87, and this is what I came up with:
A random layout to share:
…and this last layout, I just LOVE. Scrap Schemes gave me the inspiration to get me going on this one. I created it today thinking about the discrimination lashed out against me, and I started to think about how my scrapping is not meant for anyone. It’s really meant for myself as a way to document and remember the way I am and how I feel at that particular moment in time. I think this one is my favorite layout thus far because I put heart into it! It says, “dear me, everyday live life with happiness.” I feel like it can’t get any better than this, well at least that’s what I think.
Oh, and before I forget… a few people have asked me if I’m on Facebook. Yes, I am. Find me here, and if you want to add me, go right ahead!
Question of the post: What scrapbook item is your most favourite one?
My favorite item would have to be patterned paper. I find that it is the backbone to all paper crafts. Without this item, I wouldn’t be able to even scrap! ACK! I can never get enough of paper. There are so many different colors and patterns that the opportunities to create projects are endless! I love all manufacturers and lines – old and new.
Happy Birthday to me!
Sarah.
