Hi, world.
I decided to take a small little break from writing. Things haven’t been going my way, and I’ve been feeling lots of heartache. I need to reorganize my mind.
Be back VERY soon. I promise.
Hugs,
sarah.
PS: The new floor is in! Time to go pick up some new furniture.
I don’t know where to start with this post. I’m not even sure what to write about today. Perhaps it’s because I feel blah and slightly anxious, and I can not even find the root cause of it. I suspect it’s because I am disappointed in so many things. I guess I just don’t understand why people are not allowed to marry who they love.
Also, I don’t understand why people like to snoop around in my business. Yes, I do keep track of the snoopers.
On another note, life has been crazily moving fast forward. I can’t even believe that Memorial Weekend has come and gone, and summer is full speed ahead.
Anyway, this past weekend, we headed down to SoCal. We witnessed the union between Gloria’s cousin, Selisa, and her now husband, Steven. It was a beautiful event, watching two people celebrate their love for one another. Everything turned out lovely, and I am so honored that she asked me for wedding planning advice prior to the big day. Here are some pictures to share:
One beautiful outdoor wedding!
The pretty bride walking down the aisle.
A rose to save a seat for her late mother.
These two are adorable together.
I thought this picture was cute.
Red and yellow - a perfect color combination for an outdoor wedding in a botanical garden.
…and here are some other random pictures from our outing this weekend:
We stayed in La Jolla at the Hilton Hotel - they're pet friendly.
Maui surely enjoyed the preferential treatment this past weekend.
While walking around, we were told that there was a dog boutique in the village, so we hit up Muttropolis. This place is majorly cute! They’ve got tons of stuff, and there are actually treats that Maui and Hilo can have.
"Please, can I have one?! I'll be a good doggy!"
We walked around the area and just enjoyed the La Jolla views. How lucky of us to come down on a weekend with great weather!
I can never get enough of the ocean. I live for it.
While walking around, Gloria and I traded turns carrying Hilo in the sling I sewed for him.
He's such a terror, a very cute terror.
I’m so surprised “the kids” made the drive down to SoCal with no dilemmas. They don’t get carsick, and they can actually sit in a car for long amounts of time without getting too rowdy.
On the way back up to the bay!
So yeah, that was my weekend. Now, onto some scrapping updates.
The sketch this week over at Pink Sketches is totally worth checking out. Play along with us, and show us what you’ve got! Here’s my weekly contribution:
…and here’s another one, just for pure fun:
Oh, and as promised, I finally got a chance to draw random names for the the 20,000th RAK. I decided to draw two names for this one, and the winners are… *drum roll please*
aww, your new dog is sooo cute, congrats on the newest addition to your family!! I can’t wait to see you scrap his pics too!
I hear ya, I want to do lots of fun stuff like you, but no money
No ring for me either but it better be within the next year! haha. I hope you get un-exhausted soon!!
AND
that picture of them on the couch is just so precious! congratulations on the new addition to the family! *huggies*
You know the drill, girls! Send an email over to redoaklines@gmail.com, and I’ll send out your package of goodies!
That’s it for now. Hope everyone has a wonderful rest of the week ahead of them.
Recovering from this past weekend,
sarah.
((Posting slightly early because we are headed out early tomorrow morning.))
Tomorrow is my best friend’s birthday! …and I am so bummed that I won’t be in town to celebrate it with her. However, I just wanted to give her a little shout out and say, “Happy Birthday, Jennie!” Hope you have a fun and wonderful birthday weekend. Oh, and since you are going to be heading to Palo Alto, make sure to pick up some Sprinkles for yourself!
As for the 20,ooo+ RAK, stay tuned for winners. I know I’m going to be super tired after this weekend, but I still plan on drawing names at the beginning of next week when we get back. …but, before we head off to enjoy some sun this weekend, I wanted to share a few things.
First off, I wanted to share that I was selected to be part of a wonderful group of girls over at Scrap Schemes! I’m so thrilled and honored to have been picked amongst an amazing group of gals. Head on over to check out this challenge site; they’ve got a lot of mad inspiration going on over there, so you’re not going to want to miss any part of it. Check back real soon to see my layout for the next scheme!
Oh, and did I ever mention that I have a secret admirer?! Yesterday, these were given to me “just because”. They sure are pretty. Thank you to whoever sent them my way!
I haven't gotten flowers in a while.
Just for moi.
For an update on “the kids”, they are doing well. They play all day, which is nice because they nap a lot, hehe! Also, Hilo has not had an accident in our house for FOUR days straight!!!!! Can you believe that?! Just 8 wks old, and I think we’ve got him potty trained!
I guess it helps that I have tons of behavioral therapy work experience.
"Hilo is wearing me out?!"
"Is it play time again?
Oh, and I just wanted to call Gloria out because I can. So the story goes, the girl thought she would head over the local bike shop and try out one that she wanted. She should have stayed home to finish up some work projects, but no. She sure tried out that bike all right.
Gloria's scratched up hands! Yikes!
Not only were both her hands scratched up, she also cut up her elbow and her leg.
Awww, poor Gloria! Hope your owies feel better soon!
Some paper love for the week:
Here’s a wedding card that I worked on for this weekend. The couple’s wedding colors are red and yellow, so I stuck to their color theme. It’s pretty simple, but I still think it’s cute!
The following layout was created for the current challenge over at Dream Girls. It seemed like a great challenge to tackle, so I gave it a shot. I love the feel of this layout — it’s such a fun and silly layout! Here’s mine:
The next ones were done just for fun because I had a ton of my supplies scattered all over the place!
Oh, before I forget — One more thing (for Jennie, of course)… here’s some pictures from your (our) favorite place. Guess the dish!
Do you know what dish this is?
I totally love eating at this place!!!
Okay, off to finish up packing. Tomorrow’s going to be a long day. Hopefully, I’ll be able to update with pictures from the trip at the hotel.
Hugs,
sarah.
(milk day.)
It has not even been a week since we brought Hilo home, and the house is completely a mess. The “kids” are running around like a bunch of hooligans, and they constantly keep taking stuff out of their toy basket. I almost tripped this morning on a squeaky bumblebee! …and yesterday, I got taken out by a small cow shaped like a tennis ball.
Basically, my life has been so tied up with the “kids”. They are consuming all of my Sarah time! As of right now though, Gloria took Maui out on an adventure, and Hilo got left at home with me. I guess I’m pretty boring because he’s all ready asleep!
So, I guess that gives me some time to myself. It’s Mommy’s turn to play. MUHAHA.
I’ll start off by saying that Maui helped me pick a winner to last week’s surprise RAK.
"I picked out this one, and the winner is...
...Mardi!"
Congratulations, Mardi! Please send me your contact information to redoaklines@gmail.com, and I’ll have a package of scrapping stuff sent out to you.
Hilo wanted to help pick out a winner, but he was too tempted — he tried to eat the pieces of paper, so I scolded him, and this was the look he gave me:
"Am I in trouble?"
Cute, don’t you think?
During my “me time”, I had the opportunity to create a mini album. This time I used my Zutter Bind-It- All. In all honesty, I love how it turned out!
Here's the cover.
The first two pages of the mini album.
Random pages documenting the dreaded high school years.
On another note, both Maui and Hilo are adjusting well to each other. They love spending time together, and they spend most of their day wrestling or running around chasing each other. The potty training is going fabulously! No potty accidents in our house for the past two days!!! Can you believe that?! He runs outside onto the grass, and poof! — he does his business, and he gets lots of love and attention. Anyway, here are some pictures from the past couple of days:
Doesn't he look like a guinea pig on my shoulder?!
When it comes to wrestling, 5 lbs dominates over 20 lbs!
After playing, they tire each other out.
"Get used to it, Hilo. Mommy takes way too many pictures!"
"Another one?! ...but you just took one."
Oh, and remember how I said I’ve been sewing a lot recently? Well, I made something for Hilo because he’s not allowed to mingle with other dogs (other than Maui, of course) or play out in public places. He needs to have all of his preventative shots before he can start going on walks or going to the dog parks. Since we are a family always on the go, I made something similar to this. I think it’s pretty funny because they use these for babies too.

I saw it at a dog boutique, and I did not want to pay $90 for one! Geebuz! I made mine for much less.
We put the stuffed schnauzer in to try it out!
I used a D Ring for tightening or lengthening the strap.
The outside is a soft denim fabric, and the inside has a flannel lining for comfort.
Hilo loves it! He tucks himself into it when he gets the chance! Hopefully, I’ll be able to take pics of the munchkin utilizing his bag.
Okay, that’s it’s for now. While I still have some time to spare, I’m off to watch American Idol and scrap a couple of layouts before packing up for this weekend’s trip!
Hugs,
Sarah.
I forgot to mention last week that when I was looking at my blog stats, I noticed I was over 20,000 by a few hundred hits! I didn’t think that anyone checks my blog, but I guess people love to stop by. Boy, does that make me happy!
Just because all of you readers are so kind, let’s do a RAK. Just leave me a comment on this post — that’s it. You have until May 21st! Good luck to all.
Now… on to the fun stuff.
I am so exhausted beyond belief. Lately, I’ve been dealing with tons of house renovations, shopping around for new furniture (the new bed finally was delivered), and trying to keep our place clean and tidy. Even though there’s a lot going on, we deciding on making another big decision.
No, I didn’t buy any nifty electronic gadgets like an iphone, but I do plan on getting my new laptop very soon.
.
.
.
No, we’re not planning on buying another house. I wish I was that rich though, haha. Give it another 4-5 years, and all that money will go into some small dinky house which is completely overpriced due to the housing inflation all over the bay area.
.
.
.
No, I’m not going to someplace cool like Greece, Italy, New Zealand, Hawaii, etc. Hopefully though, I’ll be going soon! Vacations are always on the must-do list.
.
.
.
No, I didn’t get a pretty and sparkly diamond ring. I’m anticipating that for next year. Thus, there is no wedding. Hopefully, in a couple of years, I’ll get to walk down an aisle.
.
.
.
No, it’s not a new car or new camera. Although, I did get a new car and camera earlier this year.

The exciting news:

Introducing the newest family member, Hilo!!
If you guessed “puppy”, “furbaby”, “schnauzer”, “dog”, etc., then you were absolutely right!
We jumped on the opportunity and decided to add to the family. Now, there are two monsters running around the house. We picked him up this weekend from the same place we adopted Maui. Yup, he’s a full Miniature Schnauzer; we can’t seem to get enough of that Schnauzer personality. He’s considered Parti color, and oddly enough, he’s tricolored. Oh, and get this — they are actually blood-related! I was so worried how Maui was going to react. Suprisingly, Maui can’t get enough of Hilo. They can’t stop playing with each other, and the wrestling and tug-o-war games are endless. To make things even better, they sleep next to each other.
So, do you get why there’s a BIG smile on my face?! Well, if you don’t, let me show you why:
Hilo has floppy ears too, just like his sister.
That face is just as precious as Maui's!
Adorable, don't you think?!
On the first day, they were all ready playing in our grass.
Meet the "kids".
Maui and Hilo hanging out together with their latest toy - that squirrel toy.
This is way too cute - they like to sleep next to each other.
A bundle of cuteness... and of course, a terror! He loves our grass.
This is what bed time for the "kids" looks like!
Okay, so do you see why I’m grinning from ear to ear?! I’ve got a house full of LOVE and more LOVE. There will be more cuddles and more adventures to enjoy. There’s also going to be a lot of potty accidents and chewing incidents, but patience will keep us going. Get this though, he learned sit in 3-4 tries! Wahooo!! It’s going to be one up and down ride, but here goes. Send us the best of luck!
Oh, and for those of you who guessed right, I plan on putting your name into the drawing three times. I’ll have one of the furbabies pick a name out.
I had time to scrap. Can you believe it?! I created a layout with the latest sketch over at Pink Sketches! Here’s mine for the week:
Oh, and if you haven’t all ready, join us in the latest challenge over at Scrap Outside the Box! I’m dying to see what people can create with the challenge I posted! Seriously, I dare you to give it a go. I want to see players in this one!!!
Also, thank you to Gutter Girlz for selecting me as one of the winners for the last challenge. I had such a fun time playing along, so it’s even cooler that I’m going to get more happy mail in the mailbox.
Hugs to all,
sarah.
PS – I want to see those comments!!! If I get over 30 comments on this one, I’ll send out an even bigger RAK… and perhaps, I’ll draw two names!
