We made sure to hit up the annual Howl-o-ween parade in our city this weekend. Maui and Hilo had one swim-tastic time meeting new furry friends and getting lots of love. They swam around enjoying free treats as cute little sharks. I went as a lifeguard, and Gloria went as an attacked surfer.
"Grrrrrrrrr. We are hungry. We're surfer hunting!"
((Maui and Hilo would also like to thank their Uncle Scott for spending time with them this weekend!))
Here’s a brief glimpse of Howl-o-ween 2009:

Cute, huh?! It was so fun to look at all of the creativity people put into their costumes!
Moreover, my parents came to visit. It was fun spending time with them, and Maui and Hilo loved having them over.
Grandma and Grandpa visits = EXTRA ATTENTION
Maui and Hilo were so dog-gone tired from all of the excitement from the weekend, so they crashed on the couch.
The two little munchkins asleep on the couch.
The busy weekend didn’t allow much time for scrapping, but I did finish Sketch #51 for Pink Sketches. Need somewhere to start?! Check out the sketches every week for inspiration. Here’s my layout for the week:
…and TOOT for me!
I woke up this morning and read this. My Mind’s Eye picked one of my layouts and awarded it with an “honorable mention” for Challenge #4. I am so honored and excited that my layout was recognized.
That’s all for now. I will definitely be back with scrappy updates.
Hugs,
sarah.
Last night, I went to the crop over at Memories Live On. Some friends convinced me to go, so off I went. I was surprisingly productive and ended up creating three layouts. On top of that, Holly helped me start planning out another class I’m teaching in December.
This first layout was inspired by a sketch over at Scrapbooking Supplies R Us. I played with the latest line, Persuasion, from Bo Bunny. …and I totally LOVE LOVE LOVE the stitching on this one.
The layout below was created using the latest sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays. I love the paper on this one. Isn’t the October Afternoon paper adorable?!
…and here’s the next one I finished. It’s definitely one of my more simple designs, meaning I was too lazy to embellish it. LOL.
Other updates to write about:
We decided that today was going to be Pumpkin Carving Day in our house. Oh, the joys of October! We had such a fun time making a mess. Even the dogs had a “taste” of pumpkin carving (literally speaking — we weren’t too thrilled about that, hehe). Gloria’s definitely the artist when it comes to carving our pumpkins. I always try to carve something simple.
Here I go....!
Maui and I are gutting out our pumpkin!
Pumpkin guts! Wahooo, NOT!
I told you I always take the simple way out when it comes to pumpkin carving! Cute though, right?!
Maui worked on her own pumpkin (with the help of Gloria of course)!
Check out our pumpkins lit up and ready to go for Halloween:
Gloria worked on her "scary" pumpkin.
How vain is Hilo?! He begged Gloria to help him put his face on his pumpkin too! He likes to copy everything Maui does.
Maui's pumpkin!
Maui and Hilo's pumpkin - schnauzer and schnauzer.
Awesome job, Gloria! They look amazing!
…and I’m so super excited that in about a week I get to hang out with Deana and Julie. I seriously can’t wait! We are gonna have a blast!
Okay, off to get some rest. Tomorrow’s going to be a long and FUN day.
Hugs,
sarah.
It’s FRIDAY!! HELLOOOOOOOOOO WEEKEND!
I wanted to let everyone know that Jing Jing rocks. Wanna know why?! On top of being such a sweet person, her work is so inspirational.
Here is some of her latest projects:
Stunning stuff, huh?!
…so help her win a contest! Here’s the lowdown from her blog:
Purple Cows is taking the scrapbooking industry by storm with two huge contest! I am asking for your help to win a Purple Cows DT only contest, and I hope you will enter the public contest!
Step 1: Sign up to follow Purple Cows blog: Purple Cows Blog, or sign up to be a fan Purple Cows Facebook Fan Page, and type in Purple Cows. Be sure to say that Jing-Jing sent you!
How does this help me win the DT only contest? The DT member who has the most referrals wins $2000 in cash. Yes, you read that correctly! Purple Cows is just an amazing manufacturer to work for, seriously, who else does this??Step 2: Once you have signed up and used me as a referal, please let me know so I can enter you into my own drawing at the end of the contest. If I win the $2000, I will paypal my winner $200, so your nonscrapping friends are welcome to enter. Even if I don’t win, I will have a drawing still and I will send out a scrappy RAK! It’ll be good stuff.

I finally busted out some of the My Little Shoebox paper I had stashed away, and I had the courage to cut it up.
I lifted both of these layouts from Michelle Lanning, one of MLS’s design team members. Her work is stunning, so I couldn’t resist. Here are my takes on her layouts:
I recently also received my September Green Tangerines Kit Club. Yuminess, I tell ya! With the extra time I had to work with this kit, I managed to create three layouts. I love the colors to this month’s kit; it’s got that “cozy” feel to it! I plan on playing with more of the kit later, but for now, here are my layouts:
…and how cool is it that this layout was featured on The Paper Company blog?! Toot for me.
As for what’s new on my end — I’ve been busy doing this and that… and this and that. haha.
Honestly though, I’ve been trying to figure out what to put into kits for a scrapbook class I am teaching in November. I have also been BUSY designing stuff for my local scrapbook store; I don’t mind though because they feed me scrapping goodies to play with.
((Thank you, Vivian!)) Moreover, I got this HUGE BOX of Zutter stuff in the mail today. That is definitely the BIGGEST happy mail I have ever received! ((Thank you, Nan for shipping it my way!)) Now, I’ve got to find some time to work on that, hehe!
——————————————————————————-
WANT SOME FREE STUFF?! Here’s how:
1. Comment on this post by October 24th, Saturday, by 11:59pm.
2. Tell me the funniest costume you have ever seen someone wear for Halloween.
3. Spread the word (let me know about it), and I’ll put your name into the drawing two times.
Hugs,
sarah.
PS: I love when I learn something new. I found a shortcut that I never knew about!
I went on a date this past weekend — with paper. LOL. Yeah, I know… pretty pathetic, huh?! Well, who cares?! I surely don’t because I got my creative side on. I made sure that I finished designing a mini album for the class I’m teaching. Once I get the “okay” to share all the details, I’ll make sure to post pictures of it.
I also finished a couple of layouts and a mini album for Memories Live On, one of the local scrapbook stores in my area. It’s so awesome that I get to create stuff to display in a store for others to look at for inspiration.
My first layout for the store was created using this week’s sketch over at Pink Sketches. It has the latest paper from Best Creations, Inc.
Another layout using the latest from Best Creations, Inc. was made for my local scrapbook store. I entitled it “Sweet Pups” because Scrapfreak is hosting a challenge to create a layout using the word “sweet” in your title. …and can you believe it?! I finished a double page layout!! My first one in over a year! LOL. Check it out:

I also finished a project to display in the scrapbook store. I made another Christmas mini album. This time, however, I used one of the latest lines from Little Yellow Bicycle, which I totally love because the paper packs are cut to match the acrylic and chipboard pieces to the albums.

…and here’s a layout I finished just for fun using up some of my Fancy Pants Designs scraps:

Oh, and before I forget – tomorrow starts the OZZ (Original Zutter Zisters) Blog Hop! There are some awesome prizes up for grabs and tons of inspiration to look at, so make sure to stop by the Bind It All blog. I promise that you’re gonna love it!
Okay, enough scrappity scraps for today. How about I leave you with some photos I shot of Maui and Hilo this weekend?!

"MUHAHA!! I'm the coolest dog in town!"

"Did you need something?!"

Seriously, they are weirdos!

"Don't you think I'm adorable?!"

"I'm cuter than Hilo!"
Hope everyone has a fabulous week!
Hugs,
sarah.
