Living where we live can sometimes be scary. If you don’t already know, we live in the “Silicon Valley“. Home to not only high-tech companies, but home to earthquakes as well. Yes, it’s true that we literally live in between Apple and Google; however, living here can really shake up the place.

The big blue square is the epicenter of the quake.
Not too long ago, we had a fairly small earthquake, but small enough to be felt. Maui and Hilo started barking erratically. All of a sudden it sounded like a big truck or train had hit our house. The house started to shake, and there was rumbling all around me. I ran to get my jacket, so we could go outside, and all of the neighbors’ dogs were barking too. It didn’t last long, but it was definitely a loud rumble. Since then, I swear I’ve been feeling little quakes here and there. Thank goodness, it was just a small one; it released a lot of tension in the California fault lines.
On a completely different note, I officially can share my layout as the Sketchy Thursdays guest designer for January. Make sure to head on over to the blog, and check out all of the inspiration from the rest of their DT. Below is the sketch and my take on it:
Also, make sure to head on over to Ideas for Scrapbookers. Today, I got to post a couple of tips and ideas on your ribbon stash. You might find some of these helpful if you’re a ribbon hoarder like me. *wink*
Zutter just announced that they are releasing two new tools at CHA this month!
I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Check this out:

Want to see what these cool new toys do?! Check out the Zutter blog to read more about it, but beware because you’ll most likely want to add it to your wish list. Know that I warned all of you!
Speaking of CHA, if you’re going, I want to know! Perhaps we’ll bump into each other.
Happy Thursday!
Hugs,
sarah.

well considering cookie was barking like a crazy maniac, i’m sure she’s fine because she didn’t get out of their house this time… and spca didn’t have to come and find her! lol.
and yeah, that poster is pretty nerdy, don’t you think?! i couldn’t find apple on there, and i looked in cupertino!

How scary Sarah!! I’d much rather live in tornado alley than in a place with earthquakes! At least we get somewhat of a warning! Glad it was a small one!!
Love your layout – the monster is just too cute!

Loved your ribbon ideas on “Ideas” – I have lots of ribbon and try to use it whenever I can. Your map is very interesting and hope you and yours are calmed down after the quake. When we lived in the Caribbean, we experienced lot of earthquakes as there are many faults under the ocean in that area – very unsettling to say the least – now, living in Florida, we have hurricanes(as we did in the Caribbean) but we almost always have some notice. So, it’s always something! As always, I love your layout, and those new toys look very interesting (but I am afraid they are way out of my budget). Have a great week and I will look at Ideas tomorrow to see who is the featured artist (I can guess).

I do not envy you living in an earthquake zone. We felt a small tremble last week as a result of the earthquakes in Mexico and it freaked me out! Trust me, it was small too. Eeek!
Love the layout! I’m jealous you’ll be going to CHA. I need to make it there one of these times

I used to live in So Cal. Earthquakes are something you don’t get warnings ahead of time… you can only hope that when it happens you are not on a freeway…. Anyways, I love your page you did for Sketchy Thursdays. I saw it over there first and i immediately recognized it’s yours.
Have a nice weekend

YIKES!! We honeymooned in CA. and there was a small quake. Scariest thing ever even though we barely felt it in our hotel room. Stay safe Girl!
