I just want to start off by saying that my birthday week was exhausting but incredibly fun and eventful. This past week has me beat, so now I’m trying to recuperate before my schedule gets hectic. These next couple of months are BUSY BUSY BUSY.
On my birthday, we went to the California Academy of Sciences. I’ve been wanting to go since they reopened it a over a year ago, and what better day to visit than my birthday?!

The aquarium is phenomenal! Why?! Well, the museum grew their own coral reef colonies, meaning they didn’t rip anything out of the ocean! If you know me, I’m all for conserving our oceans. …and in case you didn’t know, coral takes years to grow.
Inside the facility, there’s a rainforest abundant with creatures and plants. It’s a fairly accurate portrayal of what the rainforest is like. The temperature inside is definitely comparable to an actual rainforest’s humidity.

There are tons of other cool exhibits to check out like the Living Roof. The roof acts as a natural insulator for the building, so it save tons of energy.

After lunch in the museum cafe, we aimlessly explored the city roads. There’s always something about not having an agenda that makes life that much better.
Completely exhausted from the days’ events, we headed back home and contemplated on dinner options.
Il Postale made the cut. We had never been there before, but we figured living on the edge can be a good thing every now and then.

Yup, you guessed it – - I got the vegetarian option!
The weather was perfect, and dining out on the patio felt so relaxing. …and although Gloria didn’t enjoy her Bolognese Pasta Dinner, I thoroughly enjoyed my plate. However, what was I thinking when I refused wine?!
…and it wouldn’t be a birthday without dessert! Here’s my mini DELICIOUS cake from one of my favorite places, Whole Foods:

…and a cupcake just for moi! I was too stuffed to eat it, so I saved it for the following day.

On Friday, I had another eventful day. I was not planning on attending the Scrapbook Expo that was in town, but I ended up going to pick up some great deals on adhesive. A scrapbooker can never have too much adhesive, right?!
Before entering the expo, I decided to fill out one of those Win a Getaway forms just for fun. I NEVER win, but I thought I would press my luck because it was my birthday weekend. Just by filling out a form, I was given another chance to win. The lady at the booth says to me, “Pick a number 1-36″. I pick #22. She spins a wheel, and guess what?! It lands on #22.
I WON a free getaway for two! Can you believe that?! …so now I’ve got another vacation to plan! Talk about a GREAT birthday weekend!
While I was there, a local gal from scrapbook.com contacted me to meet up. I believe she knew me through Heather, so she called my cell, and I’m glad she did. It was so good to meet you, Nancy, and thanks so much for helping me find my adhesive and bling!

Right after the expo, I headed to Suzy‘s house. I swear it has become a weekly ritual for us to go to Scrapbook Territory, but I honestly don’t mind because I tend to get stuff done over there. Anyway, Suzy made me (and everyone else at the crop) fudge to celebrate my birthday! Mmmmm…
Fudge, friends, and scrapbooking?! I don’t think it can get any better than that!

Saturday and Sunday was filled with family time and SHOPPING!
I got some of the cutest headbands to match one of my awesome birthday presents.

I’ve been wanting this Scottie print from Dooney & Bourke since I first saw it! Low and behold, it was a birthday present! I’m definitely a Dooney & Bourke and Kate Spade fan, so I was definitely excited to add to my collection.
((Deana, you are seriously a horrible influence — in a good way, of course!))
As for scrapbook updates, I’ll save that for my next post. I’ve been keeping something majorly exciting, and I can’t wait to share the news with everyone very soon!
Oh, and before I forget… there’s a Zutter blog hop at the end of this week, so stay tuned! There are tons of ways to win some SCRUMPTIOUS prizes, so make sure to check back for more details.
…and again, I have to reiterate how thankful I am for all of the birthday wishes. Thanks for making it so wonderful!

PS: Jessi, I love the photos you sent me. You are so clever to ask me to help you pick photos, hehe. I’m going to frame them this week! They are definitely going in my scraproom.
