I don’t have any children, but I have two dogs. They don’t talk the way children can, but they can communicate via the puppy face or by barking. They don’t walk on two legs; they walk on four. …and even though they are furry little critters, I consider them my furkids.

…and just like any other Mommy, you have to celebrate their birthdays, right?! Yeah, yeah… I know that both Maui and Hilo are spoiled, but I can’t help it. They are too CUTE and SWEET.

Last year for Maui’s birthday, I made her a pupcake.  She devoured her cake in about five minutes. Here’s a little recap of that:

That pupcake didn’t even have a chance. ;) Shortly after the massacre, Maui went into a food coma. Definitely an unhealthy thing, but it was too cute! Besides, it only happens once a year.

This year, I decided on coming up with a different recipe for her pupcake. I’ve got to be careful what I bake for both of them because she’s allergic to just about everything. I added her favorites – sweet potatoes and chicken. Check this out:

I decided to make her a heart cake this year! :)

Hilo: "Do I get some even though it's not my birthday?"

"Get in my tummy!"

That pupcake didn't stand a chance either!

...and of course, Hilo was in charge of clearing up the leftovers!

I created that recipe from scratch, so if you are interested, feel free to contact me. :)

We have birthday gifts for the munchkin too, but we will open them later this afternoon, so stay tuned for pictures — that is if I remember to take pictures. LOL. :)

I did want to share a couple of things scrapbook related before I head out and grab something to eat.

Ideas for Scrapbookers is running a challenge over at scrapbook.com if you are interested. Here’s a little bit about the challege:

This month’s theme is scraplifting a layout from one of the Contributing Artists to the blog! To play, scraplift a layout from the list below, and post your creation to this thread. If you would prefer to not post it, email it to scrappingpam73@yahoo.com. Layouts must be posted here or emailed by March 15th midnight EST to qualify.

Two people will win prizes! First prize will be the paper pack from the BRAND NEW Homespun Chic line from GCD Studios and five embellishments from that line to go along with it!! Second prize will be a $15 dollar gift certificate to the scrapbook.com store!!

To read more details about that challenge, click here.

…and because I’m a contributing artist to IFS, I’d love if you would scraplift my chosen layout. Of course, if you check out the actual challenge, there are other layouts to “lift”. My “liftable” layout is below:

No, you don’t have to use that many photos. No, it does not have to be black and white photos. No, you don’t have to use the same colors. However, if you want to copy those aspects, feel free to. I’d really LOVE LOVE LOVE to see what you do with that layout. It’s not one of my favorite creations, so I thought if someone “lifted” it, I’d start to like it. Good luck, and I’m REALLY REALLY REALLY hoping to see you create something with my layout! :)

…and don’t forget, Kiki Art is doing a giveaway to all of their Facebook fans! To be eligible to win, read my post below. You’re going to LOVE her papers!

For any questions on any of those challenges, please feel free to email me at redoaklines@gmail.com.

Be back soon!

Living where we live can sometimes be scary. If you don’t already know, we live in the “Silicon Valley“. Home to not only high-tech companies, but home to earthquakes as well. Yes, it’s true that we literally live in between Apple and Google; however, living here can really shake up the place.

Most of the South Bay felt it.

The big blue square is the epicenter of the quake.

Not too long ago, we had a fairly small earthquake, but small enough to be felt. Maui and Hilo started barking erratically. All of a sudden it sounded like a big truck or train had hit our house. The house started to shake, and there was rumbling all around me. I ran to get my jacket, so we could go outside, and all of the neighbors’ dogs were barking too. It didn’t last long, but it was definitely a loud rumble. Since then, I swear I’ve been feeling little quakes here and there. Thank goodness, it was just a small one; it released a lot of tension in the California fault lines. :)

On a completely different note, I officially can share my layout as the Sketchy Thursdays guest designer for January. Make sure to head on over to the blog, and check out all of the inspiration from the rest of their DT. Below is the sketch and my take on it:

Also, make sure to head on over to Ideas for Scrapbookers. Today, I got to post a couple of tips and ideas on your ribbon stash. You might find some of these helpful if you’re a ribbon hoarder like me. *wink*

Zutter just announced that they are releasing two new tools at CHA this month! :) I can’t wait to get my hands on them. Check this out:

Distrezz-it-All

Want to see what these cool new toys do?! Check out the Zutter blog to read more about it, but beware because you’ll most likely want to add it to your wish list. Know that I warned all of you! ;)

Speaking of CHA, if you’re going, I want to know! Perhaps we’ll bump into each other. :)

Happy Thursday!

Hugs,

sarah.

Who’s excited for Thursday?! Me!

Who’s ready for Thursday?! Not us! :)

On another note, I just wanted to share some layouts that I recently finished but never got around to sharing.

I finally cut up the Sassafras Lass papers that I didn’t have the courage to cut up from this past summer. It was too cute for me to use, so I hoarded it. ;) I caved in when I found the perfect pictures for this line.

See that awesome felt scalloped border in the layout below?! Well, Bethany (a “freak” at its finest, lol!) was so sweeeeeet to send me some fun scrapping stuff to play with.

Speaking of getting happy mail, Julie (aka my boss), was so thoughtful and sent some early Christmas presents! I didn’t get around to taking pictures of my box of stuff. :( Why?! Well, I put my cool pictures frames up already… and I added my scarecrow to my fall arrangement… and I put the candles in the kitchen! :) hehehe.

I made another layout with the November kit from That Scrappy Girl. Seriously, the “nuttiness” of this layout will drive you bonkers. :) …and yes, I did use one of Pam’s templates from Ideas for Scrapbookers. Isn’t it awesome?! If you haven’t already, make sure to hit up the blog for some inspiration and major creativity. ((Sorry for this cruddy picture of the layout, by the way.))

…and I know that some of you are itchin’ to see pictures of our Christmas tree. Well, you’re all going to have wait until it’s officially Christmastime. ;)

Hugs,

sarah.

PS: I wish it was Sunday.

Have you seen the 12 Days of Christmas over at Zutter?! For the next 12 days, the Zutter Zisters and the OZZ plan on sharing some inspiration and challenges to spread the holiday cheer. Join us over at the message board to check it out!

…and while I’m rambling about Zutter, I wanted to share a project I made using my Bind It All with some Urban Lily products.

Okay that’s all! :)

Enjoy!

Hugs,

sarah.
