Flaws (and strengths).

These past couple of days have been quite hard for me. I’ve been feeling on edge. To tell you quite honestly, I’m not exactly sure why I’ve been feeling this way. I think I feel antsy over anticipation. Sometimes, it even seems that my anxiety has won another battle. Eh, I guess that’s my flaw. …but hey, at least I’m fessing up to my flaws, right?! Admitting them is definitely one of my strengths, I’d say. Knowing my flaws allows me to improve on becoming a better person.

This weekend was supposed to be one of those relaxed stay at home weekends, but it totally didn’t end up that way because we all know how much I love to be out and about. 🙂

On Saturday, I got to spend a chunk of my day playing with bottles, bottles, and more bottles of Glimmer Mist. Cory Phillips from Tattered Angels was in town to teach various techniques on how to play with these ADDICTING bottles of fun. I had tons of fun learning new ways to embellish my layouts and projects, and by the end of the class, my hands were totally “glimmered” out.

Heres the cover to the book I made.

...and the back. I went embossing crazy on the back. :)

Saturating the page with mist makes a really neat watercolor look.

Saturating the page with mist makes this really neat watercolor look. ...and I've officially decided I need the BRONZE bottle of Glimmer Mist. 🙂

Sunday was definitely a BUSY day. We woke up early, packed up the car, and headed to the beach all before 8 o’clock! Yes, we decided to take Maui and Hilo to the beach, hehe. 🙂 Because we knew the beaches were going to get pretty crowded, we decided to play at a more isolated and secluded beach — Bean Hollow State Beach, which is just south of Half Moon Bay.

The not so crowded beach is always more relaxing.

See, theres no one at this beach yet.

I'd love to go swimming here. Too bad it's freezing, and this is a shark hangout. I'll stick to the sand here.

This is no joke... theyll do anything for that chuck it ball.

I got it, Mommy! Well, actually... I took it from Maui.

Northern California beaches are not your typical beach weather. Brrrr!

Wow, heres a picture of me and Scott. It actually turned out okay. haha.

Getting down and dirty, Hilo ended up with tons of sand on his face!

"Yeah, yeah... I know I've got sand on my face."

On the way home, traffic going towards the beach was horrendous. I guess it’s true what they say, “The early bird always catches the worm.” Good thing we left early. 🙂

After the beach, we headed to one of the local scrapbook stores, and I got the chance to finally meet Holly, a sweet gal who lives in my area and “met” me through this blog. She was doing a make and take, so I wanted to drop by and say hello. I had fun learning new distressing techniques! Check out this tag I made (with Holly’s help, of course!):

Heres the project I made. :)

Here is Glorias finished project! ;) Hey, at least she tried it, right?!

Here is Gloria's finished project! 😉 Hey, at least she tried it, right?!

Later that afternoon, we headed to Gloria’s sister’s place for an early Labor Day BBQ with her family. Maui and Hilo had a blast playing with Mina and Milo. Four dogs running a muck, good food, and nice weather make an awesome BBQ, don’t you think?!

Im playing chase with Milo, Mom!

This was found in the backyard. I dislike bugs. Bwech!

It’s Tuesday, and I want it to be Friday all ready. haha! Today, I plan on taking out all of the fall/Halloween decorations out of the storage. Fall is right around the corner, and it’s my favorite season. I can’t wait to decorate our place and deck it out with fall colors!

Scrappity scrap news:

I’m so honored and thrilled that Nikki Sivils recognized some of my recent layouts on her blog this past weekend!

The first layout she posted was one I had previously posted on my blog, but I thought I’d post it again. Personally, I love the little bow I put in the owl’s head. 🙂 Isn’t it darling?!

The second layout she posted was my layout that I created for this week’s sketch over at Pink Sketches. To see this week’s sketch and for some awesome inspiration from the DT, head on over to see the latest!

The girls over at TAAFOMFT are amazingly sweet, and we’ve all made such awesome friendships via our MULTIPLE and NUMEROUS emails to each other. After receiving an email from Deana, I decided to make a layout to cheer her up. Why? Well, you’re going to head over to her blog to find out. 🙂 Anyway, I wanted to share what I made for her.

Last but not least, I had a ton of scraps lying all over the floor, so I decided to create something to decorate our newly made mantle! 🙂 I ended up making a haunted house! When I get the time, I plan on adding spiderwebs and a dilapidated fence around the house. Let me know what you think!

I love the ghost coming out of the chimney!

I love the ghost coming out of the chimney! ...and I love how the house is slightly tilted! 🙂

Heres the graveyard to the side of the house. :)

Here's the graveyard to the side of the house. 🙂

…and since I’m all ready talking about Halloween, I finished my Halloween cards over the weekend too! I’m totally on a roll, wouldn’t you say?!

Last but not least, the one and only layout I created this weekend:

I made the flowers with the paper towels I used to wipe up my Glimmer Mist! :)

I made the flowers with the paper towels I used to wipe up my Glimmer Mist mess! 🙂 Aren't they pretty?!

With all that said, I’d say I have more strengths than weaknesses. Now that’s a reason to smile. 🙂

Hugs,

sarah.

Okay, just to be fair, my finished project was purposely made so you couldn’t see the stamp on there! I put yellow on yellow with that pearly powder thingy. It worked just fine! =P What happened to the up close with Milo? Anyway, I love your latest layout because yes God is good.

  3. Gloria — i love your excuses. 😉 haha. just kidding. the up close of milo i forgot to upload. it’s a rather cute pic tho. you should send it to your sister.

I loved readin your post; in fact, our dinner will now be later than normal because I just have to comment. How lucky you were to take a glimmer mist and I love the towel flowers – I actually made a layout this past spring where I used a glimmer mist waste towel as part of the layout. Your dogs are absolutely too cute and the beach there looks so wonderful. As far as I am concerned, FL beaches are still tooooooo hot! Gimme another month or so! Love your layouts – you are on a roll!

  9. Paper towels? Genius! 🙂 Loved all the photos, and your projects!!! I’m equally ready for Friday and fall. 🙂

  10. you had quite a productive weekend! I must admit I’m a little jealous of you being so ahead of the game with your fall & halloween projects!

♥ the beach photos! Why is it that the ocean water in CA. is always so cold? I mean, like year-round?!

And finally…. I bow down to your amazing misting, masking, embossing & paper toweling from the weekend! Such incredibly beautiful projects & such a great way to get some creative mojo going, too! What a FUN thing to do over the weekend! I want to see what Gloria made! 🙂

Hope that feeling passes, too, btw… because for sure… more strengths! You rock, girl! 🙂

  12. hey girl. you are fabulous. I absolutely love your glitter misting! It makes me want to run out and get some right now! 🙂

  16. That haunted house came a long way from that box you had last night.

Btw, I took that pic of the seal. Or at least I’m pretty sure I did.

  17. Oooooh, I love your haunted house. I’ve been creative for halloween too. I crochet a halloween cupcake. Maybe I’ll make another one this evening. Need to take a picture of it and post it on my blog.

Thanks for taking the time to share all the photos and stories. You remind me that I need to go out and enjoy the sunshine while I can here in rainy Washington! Oh! In answer to your question about the rub ons…they are from Stampin’ Up! and if you give me your snail mail…i’d definitely give you some of them cuz I’ve got tons of them from a promotion they did a couple years ago (they are retired so you can’t buy them now). Seriously, let me know and I’ll send some off okay!
