((WARNING: This is a LONG post LOADED with pictures.))
As most of you know, I just got back from Texas a couple of days ago, so I wanted to share my experience from the Great American Scrapbook Conventions. I know that y’all gonna LOVE this post! …and I just need to say that y’all are so cute with your accents down South, hehe. 😉
Let me start off by saying that I can’t take the heat and humidity in Texas! Holy schmoly! I love y’all, but I love me some California. 😉
On Friday and Saturday, I helped Suzy and Shelly set up their Punky Sprouts classes. On top of being super fun, all of their classes were hits for sure! We even had some time to go shopping, crop, and get goofy.
…and how awesome is that fellow TAAFOMFT gal, Amy, came to the event to meet up! Even though we just met, it really felt like I had known this girl for years. She’s so genuine and sweet, and I’m so glad that we had the opportunity to hang out (and scrap, too)! ((Thank you so much, Amy, for driving all of us crazies around!))
It was also fun to finally get to meet and chat with Stephanie Hunt, owner of Bella Blvd. She’s so super sweet! I thought it was so cute that she took Suzy’s class, but she sat in the back ((making a HUGE MESS! jk, Stephanie!)).
After all of the shopping and the classes, we headed to the HUGE crop event. The room was ENORMOUS, and it was packed with over 400 people on both Friday and Saturday nights. They wanted Suzy to MC, so I found it hilarious listening to her trying to entertain hundreds of scrappers, haha! Too bad she made me and Amy help her entertain during some parts of the night. How in the heck did she get me to sing in front of hundreds of people?! Who knows, haha!
…and how fun is it that Becky Fleck, author/designer for PageMaps, stopped into the crop to say hello to me and Suzy?! She’s so down-to-earth. ((Can’t wait until a visit to the bay, Miss Becky! We’ll surely take you to get a mug of goodness.))
If you haven’t heard of PageMaps, please make sure to check it out! Becky’s sketches are inspiring, and they always know how to pull me out of a rut. She’s coming out with a new book this fall, so make sure to pick up a copy when it’s released! Y’all are gonna LOVE it.
While at the crop, we had TONS of fun! I laughed until it hurt. I finished a mini album. I laughed until it hurt. I helped vendors sell their stuff. I laughed until it hurt. I ate PF Changs for dinner. I laughed until it hurt. Then, Amy and I decided to call Julie, and we laughed until it hurt.
Then, we laughed until it hurt again! Why?! Well, Amy had this strange idea to mist these “fried crispies” from our leftovers. HAHA! Don’t ask – I think you just had to be there to get it, lol!
The crop ended late, of course! On our way out, we ran, squealed, and whined about those nasty June Bugs in the South. Bwech! Can you even imagine a bunch of girls running around with scrap supplies trying to dodge June Bugs?! Oh, and because it was past midnight, we celebrated Shelly’s birthday in the parking lot! Again, a big HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Shelly! 🙂
Here are a couple more pictures…
