caught in a storm.

Holy smokes! They weren’t kidding when they say that the Midwest gets major lightning/thunder storms. The current storm right over the Chicago area is keeping me from sleeping, so I thought I’d write a blog post. From the hotel window, we see a clear shot of the “light show” (it hit the top of our building). Furthermore, the lighting was as loud as the sound of rumbling from an earthquake. Yikes! I’m such a California girl when it comes to extreme weather like this. 😦 Oh, and the humidity is unbearable. ARGH.

Enough about the weather, let’s get to the best part about traveling – the adventures and exploration!

We hit up Gino’s East earlier this week. Have you tried their pizza before? It’s super delicious! While we were there, they gave us the wrong order, so guess what?! We got a free $30 pizza! 🙂 SCORE!

I’m officially part of the graffiti walls of the restaurant! Aren’t I special!? 😉

One evening, we also went to see the Bean in Millennium Park. I didn’t think it was that big, but it totally is. Here are some fun photos from that night:

We even walked around the Field Museum (and surrounding areas). It was definitely educational and time well spent. Here are just a few of the hundreds of  memories thus far:

…and I have no idea what we were thinking when we decided to walk all the way to Buckingham Fountain in the heat!

These are just a handful of photos that I have shot so far! I just wanted to share a snippet into my life these past couple of days. I have tons more, but I’ll probably share those in upcoming projects. Stay tuned!

Overall, I’ve been having a blast. I can’t wait for what tomorrow brings; I think I see shopping in the very near future. 😉

PS: Who’s going to CHA?! It’s only a few days away. Let me know if you’ll be in town, so we can all meet up!

  4. Welcome to Chicago!!! I wish we could meet up sometime, but this is a crazy time of the year for us. Love the pics! It really is a great town!….minus the heat and humidity. Those storms kept me up late too. Keep posting pics! Have fun! There is still lots to see!

  5. Wow! Awesome pics! Looks like you’re having quite a time! Yes the thunder and lightning shows can be quite dramatic! I love them except when we’re trying to sleep. My nine year old son is still afraid of them at night. We all get up and wait them out. They’re usually gone in about 1/2 an hour! The poor cats even hide under the sofa! Enjoy CHA!

  6. Looks beautiful! Glad you are having fun!

The storms! I live in west Michigan and we get the recharged versions of the storms after they go over Lake Michigan. Thursday night was pretty bad because of all the tornadoes. Luckily for me, I grew up with this weather and I can sleep like a baby through it all!

I’m glad you’re having fun in Chicago. I love going there. I wish I were going to CHA, but I’ll just have to live vicariously through everyone else that’s going.

  11. I love your photos!!!! Since I may never get to those areas, it’s nice to see them through other people. Although there is a photo with a weird looking thing in it…. looks like a giant pod of some kind. Can you tell me what it is??

Great pics!!! So glad you are having fun in Chicago! Did you get to see the giant face changing wall thingie that squirts water? Isn’t that a great description, he he! 😉 I will be at CHA, can’t wait to meet up with you and see your sparkling and fun self irl. 🙂 Hopefully the weather will calm down, we have been having a CRAZY hot and humid summer in the Midwest with boatloads of storms, dang.

  16. Looks like fun!! Those crazy Chicago summer storms left us stranded once at O’Hare… I’m soooo not a fan of the storms. I’m definitely a California girl with you on that one!! 😉 Hope you have a great time at CHA. I wish I was going to go see all the fabulous stuff in person. I’m already looking forward to January!! 🙂
