old is still good.

I know that I tend to use the latest products on my projects, but that doesn’t mean that the older lines aren’t scrapbook worthy! As a matter of fact, the reason why older lines get stuck on the shelf is because of how cute it is. C’mon, admit it; you were hesitant to use it because you wanted to hoard it!

I ransacked my scrap stash to play with older stuff.

My first layout was based on a sketch provided by Sketchy Thursdays. It’s such a unique design, so I had to give it a shot. …and because I haven’t used it in a while, I brought out some Crate Paper.

I altered the design slightly. Can you tell?!

The photos in the above layout were taken at the beach not too long ago. We let the furballs free on the sand, and they had a blast. They were kicking up sand left and right. After hours of running, Maui started to walk. Eventually, she came to an absolute standstill, hehe.

My next project was prompted by the current challenge over at My Mind’s Eye to create a summertime layout. Here’s the sketch they shared:

To me, summertime means spending more time outdoors. Thus, I had to create a layout about Hilo and his obsession with soccer.

I used an older line from My Mind’s Eye, but I think it still looks great. Don’t you?! Looking at those photos make me smile. Who would’ve thought that I’d adopt a dog soccer star?! If he keeps up his love for soccer, I think we might have a future World Cup candidate! πŸ˜‰

…so what do you think?! For using older products, I think both layouts are completely scrapbook worthy. If I keep using my older stash, I’m bound to have more space for the new stuff, haha! Anyone want to get me some new supplies?! πŸ˜‰

On another note, life has been wonderful. I was driving the other day, and I thought to myself, “I am truly blessed.” I have the most loving family. My friends are all very supportive of who I am and what I do. Numerous opportunities have opened up for me in these past couple of years. It just keeps getting better and better. Yeah, there’s always kinks along the way, but I tend to deal with it and move on. Besides, they’re not even worth my time.

I wake up every morning wanting to live. I am definitely in a different place from a couple of years ago. It is such wonderful feeling.

Here’s to life!

  1. I agree… Old can be new, depending on the eye and the designer making the project… so with such a great designer as yourself anything looks great! Loved your work, as always!!! cute babies in them, too. Love. Kiki

  2. I love going through my older stash as well, you’re completely right…..that’s why we stash ’em, cause we love ’em!! πŸ™‚ Fantastic LO’s and I’m so incredibly happy for all of your accomplishments but mostly that you are happy with your life and all that you do is bringing you joy…that’s what makes life so great, happiness! πŸ™‚ TFS

  3. Lovin the positive attitude… too often we get caught up in the negative… life is about being happy… so YAY for that!! πŸ™‚ Awesome layouts… and I totally agree that the older paper is still super cute regardless of when it came out… even though that still doesn’t stop me from wanting the new stuff!! lol

  4. My motto? Life is Great! Believe it or not, most of my stash is older stuff because I’m such a bargain shopper. I wait for sales and close-outs. If you’re not a scrapper, you wouldn’t know that anyway, so I don’t worry about it. It’s all new to me.

Adore the way you fussy cut around the letter stickers for the SOCCER part of your title! I really like that!

  5. I love these pages!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great layouts! My paper gets stuck because I want to “save” it. When I see your adorable layouts, it makes me want to get them out and DO SOMETHING with them. Thanks! And, yes, life is good!

  7. Adorable layouts! I like how you made the Sketchy Thursdays layout pretty simple. Mine turned out way more complicated then I was expecting. I like that you used your stash. I’m in the process of using up a lot of my older stuff because it’s gotten to be a bit overwhelming. lol. I’m glad your life is going so well for you! Cheers!

  8. Love how you used those AC felt alphas and the tickets. I am on a one year patterned paper fast–no buying PP for a year so I am using all the old stuff I have built up. So I hear ya on using that old but awesome paper up!

Your LO’s are fantastic as always!! I have a question for you, the pictures in the LO’s look worn(?), how do you do that? I’ve admired that style but I’m not sure how to recreate it. And your pups are too cute!!!
    Thanks for the help!

    • i distress it with either a tool that distresses (tim holtz has one) or i just my scissors to give it that messy edge.

hope that helps. let me know if you have any other questions.
