you are so pathetic.

If you just read the title of my post and thought… “Who are you talking about?! Are you talking about me?” …then you are guilty of assuming.

With all of the technology in today’s society, some social aspects have deteriorated. I’m not saying that people don’t know how to amiably approach others. I’m saying that people misunderstand thoughts and ideas via technology.

When I say something similar to “so frustrating” as my Facebook status, more than likely, I’m not talking about you. I’m probably referring to the loud and annoying children in the neighborhood. …or if you catch something like “ARGH! so lame.” as my away message, it’s because I’m probably peeved at the lines at the post office. If I comment after you in a thread with my thoughts, I’m not counteracting what was previously stated (unless, of course, it’s something that needs to be addressed, haha).

In a nutshell, we should all stop assuming that everything is a personal attack. Seriously… it’s just a comment, simple text message, email, blog title, etc.

Don’t take things so seriously. Life is too short to waste your time with misunderstandings. πŸ™‚

I’m curious to know what you think.

I completely agree with you! People tend to think only in the negative way or always try to bring up these bad things to their lives…it’s really frustrating! That’s why we scrapbook…and blog! kkkk

  2. I think you are right! πŸ˜‰ Well said!!

  3. I agree….and I’ve been guilty of that in the past, but I realized that I was being ridiculous…things can be taken the wrong way through technology. And I think in general as a society, Americans need to loosen up and lighten up as a whole. My parents and I were talking about the other night, and I was thinking of doing a blog post on it….my dad was talking about something he heard on the radio about Americans are the worst for taking themselves too seriously…we all need to lighten up and enjoy our short time here….It is definitely too short to worry all the time and take yourself so seriously!!! I think that’s why my page I just did with the lyrics to “The Remedy” meant so much to me!!

  4. I agree with you, and I am often misunderstood!

there is a social study on how technology has changed our communication perspective. everything from CAPS to finer font can be misinterpreted very quickly via text. I suppose in such cases one can only re-evaluate and take everything with a grain of salt. of course, not everyone is bred with these societal skills to evolve.

    • this is such a gloria comment. LOL. seriously, you make me laugh. …and i can name a few ppl who don’t have the capacity to evolve. HAHA.

I think thats a huge struggle with these technological times. Words on a screen can be so easily misinterpretted or read into so much.

yup i SO agree! *sometimes* people take all they read as if it’s meant for them…

  8. yep…agree…totally!

  9. Jocy

I agree with you totally!! With texting and messaging, it’s hard to what the expression is or if the person is serious, angry or happy. Sometimes just one word can set someone off.

  10. you do realize we live in an “it’s all about me society”–LAME but true. That is why you see the idiot in traffic speeding up to pass you so that they can be first at the red light!
I agree, people need to relax–It’s all good!

  11. Totally agree. With so much communication happening electonically we lose context, vocal intonation, and in the case of social media, direction.

  12. I love the technology of “talking” over the internet but hate that my facial expressions along with my words. I’ve had SOOO many incidences where my meaning was misconstrued and it frustrates me. I’m not a person who holds my tongue…if I meant YOU…I would STRAIGHT OUT tell you!!!!

Well said Sarah! I am “friends” with some of my neices and nephews. Sometimes they post something and I go Oh my, only to find out it is the lyrics from a song! I am so glad I don’t comment or I would be in big trouble not to mention looking really stupid, lol!!!!

I agree totally! I frequent the Cricut MB and sometimes the drama over a message is just so unsupportive of our fellow crafters. I like to keep the drama to a bare minimum…that’s why I love the blogs I follow.

  16. Lisa

Totally agree! It’s really hard to “read” the tone of a Tweet, FB update, etc. You’re missing half of the communication that you would get from tone of voice, body language, etc. I have to tell myself this often when I am offended by something on Twitter, FB, etc.

  17. LOL…very well stated! I’ve had instances where people thought I was attacking them with a Facebook status when it had NOTHING to do with them at all. Sadly, many people are childish and use social media as a way to gossip and continue on the high school drama most of us choose to leave behind us. As much as I love social media, I think a lot of people really need to get their head out of the computer and back into the real world!

In fact, my department at work implemented No-Email Fridays, where we are not allowed to email or use IM. Instead, it forces people to get up and actually socialize like real human beings. Kind of cool but sadly, a hard concept for some people to grasp.

I realize blog land wouldn’t exist if we all kept our heads out of the computer, but once in a while, everyone needs to make an effort to be part of the real world as well!

  18. Wow…sorry that’s so long. It looked much shorter in the comment box!! πŸ™‚

  19. I’m right there with you chick…life is way too short to spend any of it not being HAPPY!! πŸ˜‰

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh and PS..I totally thought your title was just directed at my brother! LOL!! Cause he is!! LOL!! KIDDING! :):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):):)

oh, hi. I was CLEARLY talking about Rachel on Big Brother! lol

    Totally in concurrence.

  23. AMEN! I hear ya. Like a few wks back I totally wrote something random about accepting boyfriends apps and my brother in law started running his mouth about how Im no go for his brother. I hate how some read way to much into things. However if they take it personally then it is either 1) true or 2) they know they have done something toward you/ or whoever put whatever for a title/status/away message.

I will have to say keep doing you. Your true and valued friends will get it and thats all that matters. ~HUGS~

  24. that is *no good not no go…hahaha

  25. sookie

Very well said, I couldn’t agree more. πŸ˜€ People tend to think that everything is personal and it’s really tiring to have to explain. πŸ˜‰ Everyone should just be happy… πŸ˜€

  26. Michelle

    I 100% agree!!
If people think we are talking about them why don’t they stop and ask us?! Communicate with us?!
    Everything was well said!!
Thanks so much for your sweet words on my blog!!
Hope you have a Blessed day!!

  27. ….Couldn’t said it any better myself…..

  28. LOL!

I know exactly what is going through your head about 95% of the time. That’s exactly why I think it’s hilarious when you post something on facebook or here and suddenly 30 people are “praying for you” and “hoping things get better,” while I post something along the lines of “Jack Cust blows” or “I need to cut my toenails.”

I’m not callous; I just have be benefit of knowing you your entire life. πŸ˜›

P.S., Tell Chuckanucka and Jeero that I said “what up dawgs!”

  29. yeah I totally agree… sometimes I catch myself thinking about ways things I say via text or online can be taken the wrong way… especially since I have kind of a weird sarcastic humor!! lol

  30. AMEN Sister! Well said indeed.

  31. so ive been catching up on your blog and TOTALLY had to comment on this one!! I totally agree with you. this is why I have a lot more guy friends than girl friends actually. people can be sooo sensitive about the least little thing. ive made people mad without even realizing it by making some little comment that someone takes totally out of context.
I think ive said a few things on your facebook in a JOKING way when you post an “annoyed” comment or whatever. I hope you know im joking! πŸ™‚ I’m sooo not one of those dramatic, sensitive girls. πŸ™‚
