another november baby.

I know so many people born in the month of November.

Over the weekend, we celebrated G’s birthday. We didn’t do anything too extravagant, no fancy party or get together. Rather, we chose to stay close to home and keep it pretty low key. We did, however, celebrate with a delicious cake at home!

Twenty-nine candles to be exact, though if you have met her, you’d think with her maturity level she was much older than her actual age. Say 40? Just kidding! Happy birthday again, Kee; we hope you enjoyed your birthday weekend.

Oh, and we went to Layang Layang, a delicious Malaysian restaurant in Cupertino. Yum!

We also headed to the beach! …and you know me, I will never pass up the ocean, hehe. Around the time we headed out, I noted that it was low tide; I suggested we go to the Fitzgerald Marine Reserve. Glad that I did because we saw so many tide pool inhabitants.

Anemones, harbor seals, hermit crabs, sea snails and slugs, a blue heron, starfish, tide pool fish… The list could go on and on. Now, if I could only do this everyday, hehe. What a fun way to spend our Sunday!

There are more November birthday celebrations planned, so I’ll definitely leave my party hat out. I’m not done “partying” this month. 😉

PS: Happy birthday, Steph!

old fart, year gone by, and my rights.

*The title of this post sounds so… weird? Eh. I’m not gonna change it, though. It makes me smile.

This past weekend, we drove up to spend time with family. We stayed over at my brother’s place in celebration of his birthday. What did we do? Spent time at home, with a little bit of shopping here and there. That’s what he wanted to do, so I’m not complaining. Sometimes being a homebody can be fun. Besides, most of the time, I’m out and about. It was nice to change it up from our normal weekend excursions.

Both Nat and Sean baked all weekend. There were cookies and cupcakes, all of which were gluten-free. Much to my surprise, everything turned out fabulously. Thanks, guys, for the sweets!

Again, happy birthday to my little brother, you old fart!

Can you believe it’s been over a year now since that crazy night?! Here’s to many more. Happy Anniversary, G.

I can’t believe that Election 2012 is now over. Time seems to be going faster and faster. Funny enough that we just gained an hour from fall back weekend. I exercised my right to vote, and for that I am thankful. I am thankful that we live in a country where, as a woman (of color), I still have a say in what I believe. Hopefully, you voted too, regardless of who and what you voted for.

I’m sure you’ve already heard or read that Obama was re-elected. If not, well he’s our 44th President. The times have really changed from what I remember as a child, and it’s amazing to see history unfold in my lifetime.

Last but not least, I have a couple of pup pictures to brighten your day.

Happy Thursday!

wedding, seattle, and scrapbook stuff.

I don’t even know where to begin. It’s been about a hundred years since my last post?! I truly have no words as to why I’ve been such a bad blogger; I really need to make time in my busy schedule to write and document my everyday. Perhaps, I should jump on that Project Life bandwagon. Oh, who am I kidding?!

Hmm, where do I start? I suppose my February excursions are a start. There was a lot of traveling in February.

We packed up and headed down to Dana Point for our good friends’ wedding. Each and every one of her details were beautifully planned. It was definitely an event to remember. Again, a huge congratulations to the beautiful couple, Erica and Joe! We can’t wait to share many more memories together with you two.

March has come and gone, and I managed to go without bloggin’ very much. 😉 I’m a huge fan of March because it’s my birthday month. Instead of celebrating at home, we headed to Seattle, Washington for the weekend. It’s incredibly gorgeous, and I seriously wouldn’t mind moving up to the Pacific Northwest. We took hundreds of photos, but here’s a handful of the memorable ones:

Handful?! More like double handful. Yeah, there’s tons more too, but it would take me way too long to get them all uploaded for a blog post. I’ve been definitely getting stuff put onto pages though, and I have actually created a mini album using Amy‘s new Daybook.

I love the Daybook concept because it’s easy to work with. You can basically scrapbook on the go! Add photos and embellish your heart out. Besides, it’s a lot of fun.

…and while I was at it, I created a layout with my leftovers! Love Amy’s stuff. If you’re in the area, come check it out over at Our Paper Place.

Not only is Amy a fabulous designer and teacher, she’s also an awesome friend! I have pictures from our Amy & Kelly workshops, so keep your fingers crossed that I get back on track with bloggin’! Stay tuned.

the big 30 and no more crab.

The past weekend was definitely an eventful one. …and we all know how I feel about gallivanting on my days off! In honor of my brother Scott’s 30th birthday, we decided to celebrate with him by eating delicious meals and exploring the California coast out in Sonoma County.

Saturday started off with a fabulous dinner at one of my latest restaurant finds, Anatolian Kitchen! I got my brother hooked on Mediterranean food, so I thought he’d like Turkish food as well. I guessed correctly! 😉 Unfortunately, I didn’t get any photos of our wine and kebabs on my camera; it must’ve been because I was too busy enjoying the dishes, haha.

After a delicious dinner, we all decided to hit up downtown Palo Alto for something sweet and delectable; Palo Alto Creamery it was!

Ice cream sundaes and banana splits kept our sweet cravings satiated.

On Sunday (Scott’s actual birthday), we started the day off early. Our first stop was Wild Flour Bread Bakery. This place isn’t just any bakery, though! It’s a really, really cool bakery! This place is a double whammy of goodness — amazing bread and a charming garden to wander.

They have almost every herb, vegetable, and fruit you can buy at the grocery store. It’s pretty amazing how rich the soil in California is.

After enjoying our freshly baked bread and exploring the gardens, we headed out to Bodega Bay. It’s been about a year since the last time we made a trip out there, so we thought it would be fun. Besides, one of Scott’s favorite places in Bodega Bay is Spud Point Crab Company. They serve sandwiches loaded with fresh crab. Sounds delicious, huh?!

It’s a different story for me.

I kept my Benadryl in hand because I knew I might be allergic to crab.

(Side note: Remember when I had an allergic reaction and broke out with hives last month? Well, one of the foods I ate before the hiving was crab. I didn’t suspect it to be crab because I’ve eaten it many times before that. However, that was the only “out-of-the-ordinary” thing I ate that day.)

After a couple of hours, I started itching and random hives started appearing on my skin. It’s official; I’m allergic to crab meat! *sigh*

Aside from the crab allergic reaction, Bodega Bay was breathtaking.

…and even the dogs got to enjoy our adventure. They were exhausted on the way home that they pretty much slept all the way home.

There you have it — my brother’s birthday weekend. Happy birthday again, Scott!

On another note, today’s my mom’s birthday, and I won’t be able to drive up to my parents’ place to celebrate dinner with the family. I love where I live, but sometimes I wish my family lived closer. Eh, c’est la vie.

tick tock. tick tock.

Is it crazy for me to want the clock to slow down every now and then?! If I could have it my way, I’d slow the clock down when I’m sleeping. That way, I could get a full night’s rest, haha! …but we all know, it can’t be done. The clock continues to tick away.

The clock indicates that it’s about time for me to share some projects that I worked on this weekend at my birthday crop. ((I’m surprised I even got anything done with all the fun that I had.))

Here’s a mini album that I created using the ever-so-cute Neighborhood line from Crate Paper:

…and a birthday project had to be created!

What do you think of this fun paper?! It’s one of the latest Basic Grey‘s releases, Life of the Party. I think it’s super fun, and I’m totally a fan on those silly moustaches, haha!

Tick tock. The clock tells me that it’s time for me to pick a winner from the American Crafts Blog Hop this past weekend! …and the album kit goes to:

Congratulations to Aimee K! Please shoot an email to redoaklines@gmail.com to claim your prize! Thanks to everyone else who joined us. 🙂

Tick tock. The clock now tells me that I need to continue working on some samples that I have in mind for the store. I plan on playing with Hambly, Crate Paper, and American Crafts!
