a festive weekend.

It’s Halloween-time! Yeah, we’ve been prepped since the end of September, but this past weekend just felt so festive. Speaking of festive, I never shared pictures of the decor around the house.

This past weekend, we went to one of the many members’ parties thrown by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We specifically went to this event because it was a Halloween Dance Party! It’s pretty awesome, especially when their staff is dressed up in their costumes, and they’ve decorated some of the exhibits. Plus, they hand out Halloween candy. Here’s some of the photos that we snapped that evening:

It wouldn’t be a trip to the aquarium without some random shots of the sea life, right?!

We also had the pups put on their costumes for a quick little photo shoot. Every year, we dress them up in new costumes. This year, I die of how cute they are, especially since their paw-rents are Aggie alumni. Moo!

…and to top it off, we gutted our pumpkins and carved our pumpkin haul. This year we carved Disney pumpkins. It was super exhausting but lots of fun. The dogs love it for all of the gutted pumpkin on the floor, haha!

After this past weekend, I’m feeling beat from all of the Halloween festivities. If I don’t post before Thursday, wishing everyone a happy (and safe) Halloween!

PS: Two more days! 🙂

how do i do it?!

To tell you quite honestly, I’m not even sure how I have managed to get by this past week. Ever since I announced that I was opening Our Paper Place, my phone has been ringing non-stop, the emails are constantly filling my inbox, and I have been on the go, go, go! …and just so you know, I’m holding up just fine. Busy, but keeping my head held high. 🙂

I haven’t been posting much, but I still wanted to share some Halloween memories. This year, Maui and Hilo decided that they wanted to be matching sea turtles. ((Okay fine… I admit. I was the one who wanted them to wear it, haha.)) Here are some photos that I snapped of them wearing their costumes:

Okay, so have you seen turtles cuter than this?! I think not! 😉

Oh, and because I can’t go without sharing something scrapbook related… have you checked out the Imaginisce blog recently?! Echo Park Paper challenged us Imaginisce designers to use their papers showcasing the irock and itop. Well, we definitely showed Echo Park how it was done! 😉 Here’s the layout I created:

Awesomeness, right?! Make sure to check out the rest of the projects that we came up with! Hopefully, you’ll feel inspired to create something fun. Also, if you are interested in being a part of the Imaginisce design team, you’ll want to read up on that too on their blog. They’re an awesome manufacturer, so TRY OUT! Besides, it never hurt to try. 😉

…and if you want to know more about my new store opening up towards the end of this month (November 26th to be exact), make sure to follow along over at Our Paper Place. You’ll be able to see current events and classes, as well as sign up for them!

PS: Thank you to those who have sent me such encouraging emails about my weight loss. I’ve been noticing the difference in clothing size, so I’m definitely happy about that! 😉

yikes, shark attack!

We made sure to hit up the annual Howl-o-ween parade in our city this weekend. Maui and Hilo had one swim-tastic time meeting new furry friends and getting lots of love. They swam around enjoying free treats as cute little sharks. I went as a lifeguard, and Gloria went as an attacked surfer. 🙂

"Grrrrrrrrr. We are hungry. We're surfer hunting!"

((Maui and Hilo would also like to thank their Uncle Scott for spending time with them this weekend!))

Here’s a brief glimpse of Howl-o-ween 2009:

Cute, huh?! It was so fun to look at all of the creativity people put into their costumes! 🙂 Moreover, my parents came to visit. It was fun spending time with them, and Maui and Hilo loved having them over.

Grandma and Grandpa visits = EXTRA ATTENTION

Maui and Hilo were so dog-gone tired from all of the excitement from the weekend, so they crashed on the couch.

The busy weekend didn’t allow much time for scrapping, but I did finish Sketch #51 for Pink Sketches. Need somewhere to start?! Check out the sketches every week for inspiration. Here’s my layout for the week:

…and TOOT for me! 🙂 I woke up this morning and read this. My Mind’s Eye picked one of my layouts and awarded it with an “honorable mention” for Challenge #4. I am so  honored and excited that my layout was recognized. 🙂

That’s all for now. I will definitely be back with scrappy updates.

Hugs,

sarah.

Surfing and “Howl”-o-ween Dog Festivities

Heads up! There are a LOT of pictures in this post! 🙂

We drove to Santa Cruz to check out the annual surfing competition, O’neill Coldwater Classic. The weather was mostly sunny skies. Although patches of fog started to creep and crawl over the ocean’s surface, that did not ruin our day trip. On top of the free shirts and stickers we received at the booths, we saw some of the most amazing surfers in the sport. I find enjoyment and relaxation watching how agile and talented these surfers are in the water.

Other news — We finally hung up the Halloween lights! I can’t wait to see our glowing pumpkins at night! Hopefully tonight, we’ll be able to carve our pumpkins since the rest of the week looks busy for us.

Today, was Sunnyvale’s Howl’oween Pet Parade and Faire!  Maui dressed up as a hot dog! Gloria and I dressed up as ketchup and mustard (we wore shirts that I made that read “ketchup” and “mustard”). Maui got tons of love and treats from other dogs and their dog owners, which she thoroughly enjoyed. There were lots of other cute dog costumes! My favorite costume, other than Maui’s of course, was the dinosaur!
