the furballs (and giveaway)!

It’s so hard to say “no” when you’ve got eyes like these begging for treats.

It’s so hard to kick the furkid off of the bed when they look so innocent and sweet.

…and you can’t help but smile when you get this face up into the camera:

I couldn’t resist posting some of these photos to share. Seriously, I could cuddle them all day long if time allowed.

As far as me, I plan on posting a couple of layouts very soon. I have a couple of in progress layouts ready to be completed. I don’t normally start a layout, and then come back to it later; I try to go from start to finish.

…and because I haven’t done a giveaway in months, I thought now would be a good time. Answer the question below:

Are you critical about your work/creations?

Leave a comment to this post by Sunday, August 7th, and I’ll pick a winner for a Spunky Sprout mini album! To double your chances of winning, post somewhere else online — blog, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Remember to share a link with where you shared the giveaway in the comments.

Ready, set, go.

**the LINK IT UP giveaway!**

If you haven’t already heard, I opened a scrapbook store in the bay area — in the Newark and Fremont area to be exact!

It’s been super busy since I opened my doors, but I wanted to let everyone know that all is well. People have been enjoying all of the classes and crops that we’ve done, and there’s still tons of more exciting things on the calendar.

…and because the store is doing so well, I wanted to share the success with all of you, wherever you may be, local or far away. Well, what does that mean for all of you?! It means I’m giving away an Echo Park Springtime collection kit:

If you want in, this is how to play. “LINK IT UP” by sharing the following on your blog, twitter, facebook, or anyone else online:

Sarah opened a local scrapbook store in the bay area called Our Paper Place! Be sure to follow their Facebook Page HERE.

Make sure to leave a comment on this post with a link to where you posted it, and I’ll enter your name into the drawing.

To triple your chances of winning, share it somewhere else online (make sure to let me know where you posted it the second time around)!

You have until Wednesday, April 6th, by 11:59pm to play.

…so who’s gonna be the lucky winner to this kit?!

Hurry! Link it up!

goodbye 2010, hello 2011 (and giveaway).

2010 has been such a ride for me. I started this year off with the hopes to grow as an individual. …and that I did. There have been tons of changes for me, good ones. Great ones, actually. 😉 Here are some random memories from this past year:

Favorite moments of 2010: Dad’s surprise party, winter CHA, Canada trip, official paper work, Sean’s graduation, ferris wheel ride at sunset, various publications, the Monterey Aquarium for Scott’s birthday, Reflections in Newport Beach, crazy one day trip with the dogs, California Academy for my birthday, the Texas heat and scary June bugs, many trips to Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz, setting the date, Hawaii trip, my baby craze, opening my scrapbook store, design team work, teaching classes, meeting awesome new friends, Disneyland, World Cup fun at the bar, my 30 lb challenge, making the American Crafts design team, San Diego memories, Periwinkle weekend with the dogs, the zoo, Lego mania, Bodega Bay camping, Jenner/Fort Ross drive and the huge eucalyptus tree…

Gosh, as I type this I realize that there’s so much that happened this year. As a matter of fact, it would take me way too long to write all of the memorable moments down ((that’s why I scrapbook to cherish all of those memories, hehe)). I seemed to have done this and that, traveled all over the place, and managed to still open my store in THREE WEEKS. What in the world?! It may sound like a lot, but it truly was manageable, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. 😉

Some random layouts from 2010:

…and just like memories, there are pages upon pages of 2010 layouts that I would love to share, but I pretty much posted 75% of them on this blog (or in various galleries or in a handful of printed magazines).

This upcoming year, I plan to create at least 52 layouts, one for every week. Do you think that’s doable?! Hmm… I’ll keep you all posted with that goal, lol. 😉

Do any of you have crafty goals this upcoming year? If not crafty goals, how about other resolutions? If so, share in a comment.

Winner gets a free grab bag filled with goodies selected from Our Paper Place worth $25! If we have more than 25 people playing, I’ll up the grab bag to $50 worth of FUN, NEW product!

Here’s how to play:

  • Leave a comment telling me what your crafty goals are this upcoming year (or other resolutions) by Sunday, January 2nd by 11:59pm.
  • Share the giveaway somewhere else online (Facebook, Twitter, forum, blog, etc.) for 5x the chance to win! Remember, the more people playing, the bigger the prize!
  • Smile because I think you’re awesome. 🙂

Good luck, and I can’t wait to read your comments!

Anyway, goodbye to 2010. It was wonderful while it lasted. Now, I’ve got my eye on 2011.  I’ve got my fingers crossed that 2011 will be just as good to me.

Week 7: i did it (giveaway).

Today’s post is brought to you by us, the cutest doggies that ever roamed the planet! In case you haven’t met us yet, we’re Maui and Hilo. ((Hilo: I’m the one with the handsome brown markings!))

Yeah, yeah. Arf! We know that today is Tuesday, which means it’s Mommy’s designated day to post about her challenge. However, woof, we thought it would be fun to blog for her. Let us give you our own perspective on Mommy’s challenge.

We think it’s woof-tastic that Mommy has been doing things differently around the house. She gets up every morning, eats breakfast, and takes us out on our morning walk. After feeding us, she heads out to the unknown. Ruff. We still don’t know for sure where she takes the car, but we think she goes somewhere to get sweaty and stinky. We don’t understand why we can’t go along with her; we loooooooove to get stinky! Arf!

…and sometimes on our lucky days, we get to go out on jogs with her. The feeling of our ears flappin’ in the wind can’t be beat. Well, except for getting our bellies rubbed by Gloria, of course. ((Hilo: Maui, don’t forget the random excursions we go on with her nowadays!))

Woof! Every now and then, she stands on this square thing. It’s definitely not one of our toys because it doesn’t squeak. We aren’t sure what it is or what it does, but it always shows random numbers. Today, Mommy was in a good mood and gave us an extra treat after standing on the square thing. Ruff. We have no idea why she had a huge smile on her face, but she did tell us this:

“Guess what kids?! Mommy has lost a total of 30 pounds in seven weeks!”

We don’t know what that means, but as long as she’s giving us free treats, we’ll act happy too! Woof.

…and because we’re getting free treats, we decided to ransack Mommy’s scraproom and give away some free treats to you too. Arf. ((Hilo: Perhaps one of those scrapbook kits that Mommy has lying around her room!))

Leave us a comment, and we will tell Mommy you said hello. You have until Tuesday, October 26th, by 11:59 pm to play.

Licks and kisses,

Maui and Hilo.

Week Four: being pretty (and cricut cartridge giveaway)!

Sometimes, it’s really a struggle, but not in the sense that I can’t accomplish my goal. It’s a struggle with the way I feel about body image. Since I can remember, being thin was always associated with being pretty. Maybe it was because of societal thoughts, or maybe it was peer pressure?

Regardless, being pretty is NOT synonymous with being thin. This is something I have to remind myself every now and again. Rather, being pretty should be about how one loves him/herself inside and out.

Does anyone else struggle with the issue of body image? If so, I want to hear your thoughts.

I’m still well on my way to hitting my goals. The eating healthier and being more active has definitely contributed to my success.

Winner from last week is:

Congrats to Jaime! Please shoot me an email via the Contact page  to claim your prize. …and like always, I want to share my success with all of you. This week, I’m giving away a Cricut cartridge. This one to be exact:

It’s never been opened, so it’s totally brand new. If you want to win this cartridge:

1. Leave a comment to this post telling me what you think being pretty means by next Tuesday, October 5th, by 11:59 pm.

2. For an additional entry to win, subscribe to my blog via email located on the left side of the page.

3. For another chance to win, share this giveaway elsewhere online. Please let me know where you shared it, so I know to add your additional entry.

Good luck to all who enter!

Today marks the first day of Week Five. *woot woot!* Let’s hope I can keep up with my challenge!
