FOTL and adventures with k.

((Beware! This one is loaded with photos!))

The past week has been very hectic, a good hectic though. We held our annual FOTL event. We barbecued tons of delicious food, and as the sky darkened, we prepped the fireworks. …and even though the weather was super hot where my parents live, we still managed to enjoy the time spent with our family.

The kids decked out in their 4th of July colors.

She loves being a big sister!

Maui hung out out in the living room with Natalie. 😉

Kian kept observing the camera!

The kids made me play "Headbandz" with them, lol.

The kids started writing out their names with the sparklers.

"I need someone to light this."

The day after our FOTL event, we took my little cousin back to the Bay Area with us. She had been dying to hang out with us for at least a week this summer, so we decided now would be a good time. Thus far, she’s been getting her craft on over at Our Paper Place, explored the Monterey Bay Aquarium.

She has been getting crafty at the store.

Enjoying pizza over at CPK; she likes their cheese pizza!

Cousins hanging out in Monterey!

We love visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium!

The SUNFISH is humongous!

They decided to see if they could spot some otters or seals in the water.

They spotted a couple of seals, some starfish, sea cucumbers, and lots of birds.

We explored all of the seahorse exhibit. This one is my favorite!

Isn't this such a cool picture?!

Helping her with the crafts at the aquarium. Go figure, right?! Me...? Crafts...? No... 😉

We loved looking at (and touching) all of the creatures.

It's her new penguin friend, haha!

Running up and down the steps!

The two of us decided to hang out after lunchtime.

Here we are... hanging out with Stella, the pink seal.

After Monterey, we drove up to Santa Cruz to play at the beach.

We made a super sandcastle with a pool! 🙂

It’s only Thursday, and we’ve already done so many fun things. We still have other fun stuff planned for the next couple of days. In the meantime, we’ve been working on making layouts and samples for the store. Here’s what I’ve made using pretty paper from American Crafts:

Now, it’s time for me to clean up my big mess of supplies because we’re having a huge garage sale at the store on Sunday. Yes, we’re open this Sunday. It’s gonna be loaded with awesome deals. Make sure to come check it out!

what’s the catch?!

I’ve overdone it. I really have. I’ve had too much relaxation… to the point where I’m down sick with a cold. That’s totally what I get for not wearing a sweater in chilly weather. Sigh. Well, besides catching the inevitable “common cold”, I made sure to capture a handful of photos from this past weekend in Carmel/Monterey.

Just South of Carmel, isn't it beautiful?!

The two pups wanted to get a view of the ocean too!

We explored Carmel Beach with the hooligans. Oh, what crazy times that was!

Monterey had such choppy waters. It looked like there was a storm rollin' in.

"Please let me me outta the car. I wanna roam around now."

"I love being a spoiled pup especially when I'm on vacation!"

We're enjoying our day, muhaha!

Later that afternoon, we went to search for otters! We found LOTS of them!

Don't ask... I'm being a dork again, hehe!

"At the end of the day, I'm one happy dog!"

"I'm happy too!"

We're all happy campers especially on vacation. 😉

There wasn’t an agenda of any kind. It was just pure spontaneity. Those are the kinds of getaways I like to have – ones that are laid back. Those are the ones that are perfect catches.

Now, it’s time for me to buckle down and go to bed. I want to fight this cold as fast as possible. Bleh.

relaxing weekend and layouts.

The weekend was incredibly relaxing. We headed out to Monterey early Friday morning, and it was definitely needed. The weather was nice and cool for a laid back hike along the California coast.

…and Maui and Hilo totally enjoyed livin’ the high life. They basically took over the whole hotel room. They sprawled and played all over the bed, couch, and even the shower. 😉 Now, I see why we have to pay pet fees when we travel, haha!

Yesterday. we spent time with friends at the park. I even got to take some fun photos of them, which I plan on posting later this week.

Oh, and I drew a winner to the ABC giveaway. …and the winner is:

Congratulations! Please send me a message via the Contact page to claim your Imaginisce prize.

Lastly, I wanted to share a couple of layouts that I recently finished for My Paper Tree House‘s August kit. I’m pretty sure I mentioned this already, but it’s loaded with some beautiful Echo Park Paper and some fun exclusive items to the kit!

If you’re interested in picking up one of these kits, head on over to My Paper Tree House. These kits tend to sell out fast, so hurry while they’re still available.

Happy Monday!

Weekend Outing.

Hope everyone had a fun heart day (or single’s awareness day)! I had a blast on our road trip along the coast of California. We headed down towards San Simeon, home of Hearst Castle. Surprisingly, the weather was not monstrous as predicted by the forecast; it was mostly blue skies with patches of clouds every now and then, which worked for us because we got to explore the area. We then drove up Highway 1, which runs along the coast of California, and just soaked in the breathtaking scenery. It seemed like forever to get back up to Monterey, but it was totally worth it. The views, as always, are stunning.

The sets were breaking BIG in San Simeon! Wahoo!

It was a great day to visit San Simeon.

This picture just makes me "WOW!" I love the colors.

This guy was amazing - he got AIR!!!

I have no idea what they were doing. I just took the picture because it looked funny!

I have no idea what my brothers are doing. I took this because they looked funny!

Can I run loose in the sand now?!

"Can I run loose in the sand now?!"

Maui loves to explore beaches. She loves sand.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I love beaches!"

She loves to follow Gloria around everywhere.

Elephant seals are HUGE!

Elephant seals are super HUGE! ...and stinky!

Perhaps the sun was too hot for me, and he needed to cool down.

"Seagulls?! ARGH! I am going to chase all of them away!"

Trying to enjoy life one hour at a time.

I'm trying to enjoy life one hour at a time.

I really needed that time to see the ocean. Every time I spend time at the ocean, it makes me want to appreciate my life. Yeah, I have breakdowns and panic attacks every now and then, but when I see the Earth at its finest like this, I feel content.

Pink Sketches released their latest sketch. This one involves circles, so make sure to check it out! You don’t want to miss out on this one. I made a layout about my infamous orange tabby.

Also, Kelli is still looking to add to the Pink Sketches DT. To get more information, please visit Pink Sketches! We’d love for you to join us!

…and here was just a layout I made for fun about Khiara getting over her fear of dogs:

Lastly, the winner to the last RAK, when picked with the random generator, is… COMMENT #9.

Loving both the new photos and the layouts, especially that eye one. What a great interpretation of your eye. I feel nervous thinking about bills and money issues.

Please email me at redoaklines@gmail.com, and I’ll send you out a package of goodies to play with.

Happy Sunday to everyone,

sarah.

ps – thanks jennie for coming to hang out with us again on friday. i appreciate all of your support. ::hugs::
