a festive weekend.

It’s Halloween-time! Yeah, we’ve been prepped since the end of September, but this past weekend just felt so festive. Speaking of festive, I never shared pictures of the decor around the house.

This past weekend, we went to one of the many members’ parties thrown by the Monterey Bay Aquarium. We specifically went to this event because it was a Halloween Dance Party! It’s pretty awesome, especially when their staff is dressed up in their costumes, and they’ve decorated some of the exhibits. Plus, they hand out Halloween candy. Here’s some of the photos that we snapped that evening:

It wouldn’t be a trip to the aquarium without some random shots of the sea life, right?!

We also had the pups put on their costumes for a quick little photo shoot. Every year, we dress them up in new costumes. This year, I die of how cute they are, especially since their paw-rents are Aggie alumni. Moo!

…and to top it off, we gutted our pumpkins and carved our pumpkin haul. This year we carved Disney pumpkins. It was super exhausting but lots of fun. The dogs love it for all of the gutted pumpkin on the floor, haha!

After this past weekend, I’m feeling beat from all of the Halloween festivities. If I don’t post before Thursday, wishing everyone a happy (and safe) Halloween!

PS: Two more days! 🙂

Last night, I went to the crop over at Memories Live On. Some friends convinced me to go, so off I went. I was surprisingly productive and ended up creating three layouts. On top of that, Holly helped me start planning out another class I’m teaching in December.

This first layout was inspired by a sketch over at Scrapbooking Supplies R Us. I played with the latest line, Persuasion, from Bo Bunny. …and I totally LOVE LOVE LOVE the stitching on this one.

The layout below was created using the latest sketch over at Sketchy Thursdays. I love the paper on this one. Isn’t the October Afternoon paper adorable?!

…and here’s the next one I finished. It’s definitely one of my more simple designs, meaning I was too lazy to embellish it. LOL.

Other updates to write about:

We decided that today was going to be Pumpkin Carving Day in our house. Oh, the joys of October! We had such a fun time making a mess. Even the dogs had a “taste” of pumpkin carving (literally speaking — we weren’t too thrilled about that, hehe). Gloria’s definitely the artist when it comes to carving our pumpkins. I always try to carve something simple.

Here I go....!

…and I’m so super excited that in about a week I get to hang out with Deana and Julie. I seriously can’t wait! We are gonna have a blast! 🙂

Okay, off to get some rest. Tomorrow’s going to be a long and FUN day.

Hugs,

sarah.

Orange, orange, and more orange.

It’s almost Halloween time, which means our house is decked out in orange! (This makes me miss my orange cat, Hoshi. I wish he was here.)

I’m really excited about the pumpkin lights that we hung in our patio. You can see them when driving up to our home, and it totally lights up our whole patio! …And not to mention, it’s fun to be festive during the holidays!

Although it’s not quite yet Halloween, we carved our Half Moon Bay pumpkins because our upcoming week is busy with work and home improvement plans. Carving pumpkins was tons and tons of fun. It was totally worth the mess, and we are totally satisfied with the way our pumpkins turned out. To keep it simple, I just carved out a simple funny-faced pumpkin, whereas Gloria wanted to be an “expert.” She decided to do the haunted house design; it turned out fabulously! Maui also has her own pumpkin. Here are some pictures to share:

I also had the chance to dig into more of the scrapping goodies I recently bought. I scrapped away and got a few layouts done! I finished my upcoming layout for Pink Sketches – Sketch #12, so make sure to check back this Sunday for my finished layout. Also, you’re going to want to see all the other amazing work from the rest of the Pink Sketches DT! Here are a couple of others I got done:

I totally need some sleep now. It’s so late.

From the insomniac,
